He would be an absolute fool to trust Everton and take a new contract unless he was offered silly money. We have to convince him that it is worth staying. I'm sure he has faith in his partnerships at the back, but we need to have the attack fully revamped by next season and prove we are going somewhere. We have to give him something to believe in or bend over and give him a wacky deal. Playing guys like Doucore and Ash does not help.

The best players are looking around and seeing pictures as to the next passage of play. Branthwaite is great at covering tackles and anticipating danger. That's fine. But a lot of his game is dealing with balls into the box and the lad has to be doing more with them than just ballooning them in the air anywhere as long as they get out of the box.

This is a bit clueless. Most of Branthwaite’s clearances find a blue shirt. The only ones that don’t are in his own box under severe pressure when the main thing is just clearing the immediate danger.

Yes, I think 2004 is calling and wants its transfer rumour back.

United are, currently, a club in a death spiral. At best, they are in decline that will take a few years to address. At worst, they are approaching Fergie 1989 levels of uselessness.

We should be expecting to finish above them next season.

Jarrad is the real deal and a huge part of our future. He’ll be playing more regularly for England, especially as Everton improves and he gets more noticed. Build the team around a core of Ndiaye, Branthwaite, Alcaraz, Pickford, O’Brien, and Beto and see where to add.

Realistically, if we could get Branthwaite to sign a new long term contract, we should and make him one of our top earners. If we can't get him to sign an extension then we have to sell him this summer, as once he has only one year left the fee we can achieve drops dramatically.
