January Transfer Window 2026

Just can’t see Bowen for multiple reasons

He’ll burn any ‘legend’ status he has at the club if he leaves in the middle of a relegation battle

His family is down there

The West Ham owners would spark a riot if they sold him

He’d be expensive and the wrong age profile for Everton who recently showed their strategy by investing in Dibling Aznou Barry Alcaraz Rohl.

Right now though there’ll be a lad in the championship who will be the next Bowen and he’ll come up with a newly promoted team or get bought by a bottom half team and in a few seasons we’ll all be saying why didn’t we buy x player. Well now is the time to buy him instead of Bowen.

The good thing about Moyes is he’ll know the championship better than absolutely anyone and if there’s talent in there we’ll be in for it, as he seems to trust that league as a development ground for players much more than any others.

It’s a good strategy to follow and one I’ve wanted the club to pursue for a long time since Moyes left. We can compete for very good championship players whereas lots of players abroad in the top leagues abroad can get European football if they stay where they are or will wait until a CL club from the prem comes in for them. Fofana being a prime example. Dibling was a much more sensible and achievable buy for us who i think will end up being a much more valuable asset than Fofana.

Pretty sure people on here thought that Josh Bowler was going to be our Bowen..

They appear to going down with Bowen,so maybe they think selling him as buying a few players gives them a chance? Think it would be mad...but it is west ham

The problem is how much does the "finished article" cost? £100m? We are not shopping in those places and even if we were, those players want to be in the champions league and if they are not there already they are prepared to wait.

Adding someone like Pepi for £30m can work 3 ways, he can either become a player proven in the premier league and then is instantly worth twice what we paid for him, so we can sell him, make a profit and reinvest, Or keep him and he gets us to europe.

The third way is it doesnt really work out and we sell him back to PSV in 18 months for £15m having written off £15m

people throw 100m price around all the time …

But how many times have players actually been sold for that? No many…

How much was Etikike? How much was Wordamarte? They amongst the his best rated young strikers in Europe and didn’t cost that much …

I’m not saying we have 70-80m to throw around or that we can attract them … but there will be plenty of strikers available that don’t cost that much that would be miles better than Beto and Barry … we just need to scout and actually find one

He’s a footballer and you get 1 career. Ok maybe not Everton, but you think he’d turn down Liverpool or city however unlikely or going abroad to a big side. It will be his last big deal and you’re not that long in football, he has years to play happy families in the east end
Not if that nonsense soap is to be believed.
