January Transfer Window 2026

If we do have 33m or whatever Johnson would cost …

I’d rather see if we can get Williams from forest for say 15m and McNeil ( assuming they wanted him) and then see if we can get Gallagher in from Athletico for 26m ( we’d have to find another couple of million I know )

I’d happily take another striker instead of Gallagher but I don’t think we are going to be able to find anyone decent enough for 26m

Obviously selling Beto would be an option if possible .

But Williams ( or another actual right back )

Gallagher

Would improve us massively

Maybe we can cash in on Patterson ?

Not as good as Gordon or Barnes. Villa don't really need him as they have Sancho, Buendia and others that Emery likes to play more inverted
Sancho isn't up to it though. He has cost Villa tonight. Had a great chance to put them ahead then gave the ball away for the 2nd goal.
Where has Harvey Elliott disappeared to?

If villa play Elliot a number of times it triggers a compulsory purchase agreement in the deal.

Villa clearly don’t fancy him any more so don’t want to activate the clause.

don't love the Brennan Johnson shouts tbh. I think he's...ok, but winger is not a problem position for us, so if we do have money to spend, I'd so much rather see it spent in the areas of the pitch where it's really needed (striker, fullbacks)

He's not good enough for them

Cant really remember if he was similar at Forest but watched him a few times at Spurs and he virtually disappeared in games. But then you look at his goals return.
I think this is a really tricky one because he's got a goal or two in him. 18 goals last season in all comps. Double figures in the prem. Is a fantastic return.

Not a fan of the Johnson idea. Dibling cost a load and needs to play. I would like 2 new hot full backs and another forward, either to replace Beto or Jack. Williams looked really good for Forest, he could be one.

People aren't going to like this comment but I wouldn't sign Grealish permanently. I think for the fee, wages and given his age, the potential downside is too great. That's not saying he hasn't been good for us, he obviously has, but this is the sort of signing I believe we should move away from. You're not wrong that they can go great and Gareth Barry is the best example of that but if they go wrong they are expensive mistakes. Younger players like Digne, KDH, Garner and Lukaku carry lower risk, of course, but we really need to start developing a scouting network that identifies these players before they get the move to the money clubs (all of them, bar Garner I think, came from other clubs not the academies of the clubs we bought them from), not after they've failed there and cost a premium.
I would love it if we get Grealish on a permanent deal this summer. I agree there is a risk in signing aging players but Jack simply has a surplus of quality compaired to most others in the squad. Just get a good LB and he will prosper even more. And the guy seems to understand the Everton-spirit. He has heart.

But even more important signing someone like Grealish is the statement of intent. If all the rumors/messages are true, we were turned down by quite some players last summer. Sadly we have fallen down the pecking order because of the last few seasons. Signing one or two bigname players might attract younger promising players, who otherwise wouldn't be interested.

We just have to make sure we don't overpay to get mediocre players in. No more Klaassen, Tosun, Iwobi, Beto, Gbamin etc etc.

Johnson would bring pace and goals, something we are lacking. I get it it is bad luck our nr 1 + 2 goalscorers are out at the same time. But look at Arsenal for example how many attacking options they have. As fans we should not worry about having too many options to choose from, that is on Moyes to worry about. McNeil is a squad option at best and yes Dibling needs game time but also he is not the finished article.
