January Transfer Window 2026

My problem with Robinson is he literally is an academy graduate and we should have had the best years of his career here. Hes 29 next season.

We dropped the ball on him or rather Brands did.

We shouldn’t compound the error, we move on.
Also he's been incapacitated for the past six months with a knee injury other than featuring in brief cameos before becoming unfit again

Robinson from Fulham for a nominal fee or loan with option would be solid.

See if he is over his injury and up to speed, when he was fit he was exactly the type of full back needed to thrive in a Moyes team.

He would offer Jack a lot more space and a genuine option. Whilst removing the second man which is always marking him.

Loan with an option, albeit a higher fee is what I’d look towards.
That seems unlikely. Robinson is contracted till summer 2028 and rumoured to cost £25m

How much do you think quality RBs and DMs cost?
It's the million dollar question.

Personally I would put Garner in there and go balls to the wall for Mainoo at Man U or Kone at Roma but that's pie in the sky.

Defensive Midfielder -

Samu Costa - Mallorca

Quinten Timber - Feyenoord

Morten Frendrup - Genoa

All three very modern and mobile defensive midfielders. Timber has a bit more glam to him due to his brother at Arsenal and on a free in the summer so could be a good option in January.

Budget - £20-30m

Right Backs -

Zakaria El Ouahdi - Genk

Juanlu Sanchez - Seville

Emil Holm - Genoa

Arnau Martínez - Girona

Very highly scouted players who will have plenty of opportunities bar Holm who is under the radar so we would have to move in January because these will make that leap especially Martinez.

Budget - £20-30m

It’s mad isn’t it. Neville, Heitinga, Holgate, Godfrey, O’Brien, Garner.. we have a long history of ‘they can do a job at right back’ rather than cover it sufficiently.

I wouldn't include Neville in those. The issue with him was more 'he can do a job at centre mid'. Always thought he would have been a fine right back but we ended up playing him centre mid all the time.

The 'quality' DM there is Frendrup and Im not sure he'd cost £20-30mil.

Not really fussed on those right backs either (Sanchez probably never under Moyes) with Holm playing for Bologna not Genoa btw.

Arnau Martinez was really highly rated a couple of years ago but never got a move.

Big money Mainoo when we should be trying to bring through a 19 year old midfielder next season would be absolutely brain-meltingly weird

A lot of people in the transfer thread that claimed it wasn't a priority at all and we were fine with a CB and CM playing there, and Coleman "filling in" too.

Well that was true, it was not a priority as we had lots of other issues, and we needed to spend in other areas.

Nobody said they was happy with that, just that we understood the situation, and we are not in a position to improve every position at once.
