Santiago Castro links are interesting if Beto is moved on.

I think it's inevitable that Beto moves on. He did great last year and I really like him for his effort but he just can't fit into the system. We look a better side with Barry in and he still needs some adjusting. Just looked at Santiago Castro I'm not super familiar with him and thought I was looking at an image of Alcaraz

. Stats look good, mobile, good in the air, good hold up, decent assists. I'd not be mad if it was a swap for Beto.

Would be an immediate upgrade on Gana of course. But there's still no balance - no one of those three is a truly penetrative passer, and Garner would still be the only player at the club who can play 6, so there's no flexibility at all. Would it be a better midfield 3 than we have now? Yes. Would it be poor squad building (if the only major addition to midfield)? Also yes.

Yeah I think we need to factor in a player who will best allow Armstrong to thrive next to them. Uneducated thought is probably a very solid sitting 6?

I know Garner's been playing well but I just still don't think he's that beast of a defensive wall midfielder that's needed behind players like Armstrong, Rohl and KDH

Yeah I agree on that, there's got to be some lower cost gems from South America that we could find.

That's not his game though, we need a 3 in the middle with him, KDH, and someone else, and if we want too play a DM then we need to buy one imo. Dyche tried his hardest too make Garner into a DM but its not Jimmy's game and he even had a dig at Dyche about it in the Four Four Two interview he did.

Whether you like him or not, he's a more than useful player to have about the place
