January Transfer Window 2026

Look at the players that turned us down in the summer.

Dibling was our 3rd choice for his position.

Rohl was a last minute signing, not sure how many were looked at before him.

Tete stayed at fullham.

Paulinho chose spurs.

We dont even know how many others, but Moyes kept saying how hard it was to attract the players we were looking at.

So we are in a situation without Europe to attract a certain level player.

Fofana turned us down to stay at lyon. Yes they are in Europa League, but the premiership should be a big factor in him wanting to move. But he chose to stay in France over us.

Yeah, it’s a market. Not everyone will want to come to Everton. But getting turned down by a minger at 11:30 doesn’t prevent you from pulling a stunner at 12:00. Grealish is better than all of those players named and he chose us. Ndiaye is probably better than them all as well.

Massively so, yes.

Angus Kinnear himself said it in the ToffeeTV interview. You speak to a 21 year old from around Europe what do they know about us besides relegation battles? This is a straight quote from him btw.

Newcastle have just won a cup and Villa were in the Champions League, and both have European football to offer.

He also said it's highly unlikely we look to do anything in January so make of that what you will.

That’s my entire point. You’re referring to the success of Newcastle and Villa, who were both far crapper than us for way longer before their very quick turnarounds.

No, I'm referring to them currently being far more attractive teams to sign for than we are which you seemed to doubt in this post here.

Also, "quick turnarounds"??? Newcastle had 5 seasons finishing in midtable before they got to 4th.

Villa had 3 seasons after coming up before they lucked into Emery and managed 7th.

They weren't that quick or over a single season.

Just how damaged do you think our appeal is? If you’re going to use Arsenal and Chelsea as comparisons, then fair enough, we’ve been inferior, and seen as inferior to them for decades.

But do you think we are less attractive than Newcastle and Villa? Clubs that were recently in the Championship and had Dean Smith as manager whilst we were employing Carlo Ancelotti?

The narrative has already changed! Kenwright’s gone! Usmanov’s gone! Even Goodison Park has gone!

I’ll agree that qualifying for Europe will boost our appeal, I just don’t think it’s going to take us long to do that, and I definitely don’t think we are going to have too much trouble attracting top tier players.

We have a 100 million pound player that is maintaining his 300k a week salary playing on our left wing FFS. The ugliest guy in the club doesn’t pull 100 million pound wingers!

I remember when Baines first signed and he had to wait a while to get his chance.

It's obviously the same for Tyler...he's just not getting in the current 11 and that's life.

It's all about attitude and him showing maturity now while he's out the team and taking his chance when it arises.

For me you can look the other way on this happening with Aznou because he was only 10 million but Dibling was three times the price and we were looking to sign a starting winger which he hasn't been yet.

We did, Grealish.

Dibling should be the starting winger with Ndiaye at AFCON and also next season when Grealish is off.

That extra 30mins can do a lot to your eyes..

I had previously thought that as last summer we invested in midfield and attacking players, that the next phase would be a focus across the defence.

LB: Mykolenko / Aznou
LCB: Branthwaite / Keane
RCB: Tarkowski / O'Brien
RB: Coleman / Patterson

If we had a huge budget then the management could take a guilloutine to a number of those positions.

However, I suspect Moyes being Moyes he'll aim to keep all of them around with the exception of Patterson being replaced with a starter.

Ignoring injuries and suchlike, we could quite easily move on:

King/Tyrer
Patterson
Coleman
Gana
Rohl
McNeil
Beto

With new players brought in at RB, DM and CF.
Forgetting keepers as Tyrer will probably go but how does a 20 man match day squad work selling 6 and bringing in 3?how do 2-3 injuries impact?

I get the point about quality but you need 7 subs every week who are able to come on

You make a good point mate, but it's only fans that will ultimately look at the price and wonder why we've spent 40mil on a player, and wonder why he's sat on the bench.

We've affectively bought a future prospect that will more than likely be leading our attack for the next 6-8 years, once the likes of Grealish move on

We've decided to pay 40 mil now instead of potentially paying 80mil further down the line when at that point he may be out of our reach.

But I do see why people question the decision to pay 40 mil for a bench warmer, and it's also amplified because if been absolutely skint for 3 seasons,so why blow 40 mil on a prospect instead of a first team player.

It was hard because we dont have any competent dof that can do the job of convincing players, selling the project. Angus is out of his depth in his current role...then there is the financial aspect...you want top players then pay them top wages...simple. Merlin signing was out of desperation clearly. They probably still had the thelwell list lying around, so they thought why not. Not replacing an aging gueye (knowing also that he will go to afcon) is poor, not getting a rb is incompetence. They're just not very good at their job.
We need the bloke that sold us on Rohl, that's a bloke that can do his job..

CEO is much more than buying players. Getting magic weekend, global tournaments, building the brand of the club and stadium and therefore revenues are part of his job. Of course the stadium helps this but still has to be done.
So far, ok…

New football management team takes time. Grow your revenues, grow your set up and this all helps the academy and first team.

Remember how many players out of contract we had. Nightmare for anyone starting from scratch.

Conclusion - I have no clue what his targets are but we are hopefully progressing in every area. The CEO lives and falls by this
