January Transfer Window 2026

Always wondered about Amass for competition at Left Back.
Seems tidy enough if he can be lured away from Utd with game time.

Looks a good all rounder.

I think Mykolenko will have his contract extended and then Aznou may be loaned out somewhere.

Amass could be a clever signing in January and see how he does by season end. At their ages, Amass and Aznou could develop quite nicely.

Come the summer we'll have 7 midfielders;
Garner
Rohl
Alcaraz
Iroegbunam
Gana
KDH
Armstrong

What do you do here? If we use a 10 of not we still need 3 in the middle + sub and rotation options.
Will be questions on atleast 3 alcaraz could see leave if not getting game time, iroegbunam we will hopefully have better idea if he is ready to kick on. Then same with armstrong who they have a choice to make on

Don't forget about Dyche signing Wout Weghorst every window as well.

It’s just silly to be honest, every single window the forum collectively rounds upon an ageing crap player with ties to whoever the manager is and then convinces itself that we’re going to hugely over pay for them.

In reality we end up buying players like Ndiaye Dibling Alcaraz Rohl Aznou Barry but every window we have to hear guff like ‘we’ll probably just end up getting Coufal and Harrison and that will be it’ a million times.

I mean we did sign Kone, Alcaraz, Robles, Rondon, Allan..

And Moyes has signed multiple players more than once - Fellaini, Gravesen, Oviedo, Gibson, Lescott, Pienaar, etc and brought 3 players he had at Man Utd to Sunderland.

So it does happen.

Rondon is probably the only one on that list that fell into the ‘ffs no’ category when we bought him. It was desperate times though when we had hardly any money and he was free and had played in the PL.

We just don’t do it as many times as people think we do. Outfield player signings in recent windows:

Summer 25/26: Dibling, Rohl, Grealish, Alcaraz, KDH, Barry, Aznou

Jan 24/25: Alcaraz

Summer 24/25: O’Brien, Ndiaye, Iroegbunam, Lindstrom, Mangala, Broja

Summer 23/24: Beto, Chermiti, Danjuma, Young, Jack Harrison

Out of all of those perhaps only Young fits that profile of ageing crap player that everyone moans about us signing all window then it actually happens. Even then he didn’t do that badly for us. Harrison only really declined in his second loan here which was a mistake.

The rest though indicate that it’s far more likely we buy a player that doesn’t fit that profile.

TBH I wouldnt mind an experienced striker if one was available, imagine adding a Kevin Campbell type to this group.

I’d be very surprised if JWP signed here.

Unless Moyes thinks the set piece delivery is crap and wants a specialist to cone in.

He’s too slow for the PL now imo.

I wouldn’t be building a team around him, but Jan I’d look at as a short term injection to tip a balance as opposed to building, JWP would add to us.

Frankly our midfield from an in game intelligence point of view are like an under 8s team, all running to the ball and they struggle with balance, shape and control in games.

We’d benifit from someone who can stand on the ball, pick a pass and control the tempo - set pieces are bonus.

Remember he tore us apart at Goodison not so long ago prob in one of his final season at Saints.

As I say it’s a limited window, you are looking at marginal gaines, even if he gave us set peices it might help push on a bit further the sleep walking into 10th - 14th.

We could don with a bit of expierence too tbh. Little risk in a 6 month loan.

All opinions of course but in my view he's too slow and hasn't got a good enough engine to play central midfield.
Excellent set piece delivery but that's it.
