January Transfer Window 2026

A new face could really give us a lift. Considering Grealish’s injury, an exciting pacy wide player could have really pushed us on for the run in, and a right back wouldn’t go amiss even if they were on loan. Just feels like the club is saying it’s not really serious about a tilt at Europe if they don’t back the manager in this window.
agree, and if we want to attract better players in the summer (if that is a plan), we need to look like a team pushing for Europe, not wallowing mid table or lower - otherwise can easily see us in a similar scenario with a list of first choice transfers who don't want to come play for us.

Kind of why selling him now would be mental, he could easily be a 25m player in a year given the progress he's made this season. Be daft selling him just before you find out if he's really gone up a gear
Can you honestly see him being a stater next season ??? He will be 23 only a year younger than garner, yes we need a squad, but we have committed to signing Rhol in the summer and we have Armstrong. I think we definitely need a strong number 6 next season. So if selling Tim helps us do that, then so be it.
It’s like the argument for keeping McNeil because hes a good squad player, as we’ve just seen with injuries sometimes these squad players may needs to play 10 games on the bounce and McNeil has been poor. So if selling him helps you buy someone better, then surely it’s a no brainer

Reaction to this story makes me feel like I'm going mad.

I know a lot of people are dismissive of stats, but doesn't Tim have some of the highest numbers for winning posession per 90 in Europe this season?

Edit - was u23 midfielders only, but still. Think he has a lot of potential myself as well as being able to contribute now.

Or he could be effectively worthless if his performances revert to the Newcastle game and before. I'm not advocating selling him, but £15m seems about right given his development so far, there isn't a club on the planet that spends £20m+ on him at this point in time. Maybe he kicks on and he's worth £25m like you say, maybe he doesn't and he leaves for free in 18 months time. I can see the argument for flipping him for a decent PSR profit now when he's not a first choice player for the team in 11th place in the PL.
