January Transfer Window 2026

It's not a lack of ambition avoiding over paying in January for players we don't want.
Don't worry with the world cup around the corner, we are going to hear a lot of this from the board in the summer. Its never a good time to buy a player. It's pathetic that we are a week away from the end of the window and we are still "looking" supposedly for a rb. Moyes probably fed up of waiting had to find solutions for the season and perhaps patto (as long as he stays fit) could help us. I guess the only positive not having signed a rb yet is that perhaps a grealish replacement might become the priority (with patto, obrien and garner for rb in that order) if we want to finish in the top 10.

Who do you think decides on budget, gives final approval to sales and signings?
The owners of course!

The CEO and CFO work with and report to the owners.
No they don’t approve sales and signings. That’s what they pay the exec for. The exec e.g. the board have to report to the owners on what they have done etc but the day to day of budget setting and strategy is done by the board. It always has been. Btw, one of TFG are on the Board as well for the very reasons I have set out above.

Otherwise sign me up to be a CEO or a CFO because I’ll get paid well and not have to make any decisions.

He’s managing Bournemouth, who’ve lost their best striker 18 months ago, 3 of their. Best defenders in the summer and thier best player 2 weeks ago. Moyes took Sunderland down and did terrible in Spain
At least he still tries to play on the front foot and win games, there’s not a chance Moyes wins that game from 2-2 last night, he’d have thrown 2 defenders on
On played for a draw
By his own admission, he doesn't.

He has a counter attacking set up which very much favours teams trying to go at them.

You can do a quick Google and you'll see how he admits they struggle when they are the ones who have to take the game to someone.

We constantly sleep walk ourselves into stupid positions, results always paper over the cracks we need to be ruthless and bin Beto at least but tbh Barry can follow him as well. Get a RB in that position shouldn’t even be up for discussion the clubs a disgrace over 3 weeks into the window and nothing, we’ve needed numbers since summer look forward to 2 keepers on the bench until may.

Moyes isn't waiting he's the one who has the final say and he's notorious for being cautious when signing players as we know

….i don’t admit to having a strong view, it’s just when Dave was touting him I had a look at his career stats and they are quite poor. I do think Managerial appointments are often a matter of right person, right time, right place but Iraola’s record is nothing to write home about.
Difficult to know because of the level of club he's managed. I agree that ideally we'd look for a manager who has managed a top 4 club in Germany, Spain or Italy and had success with them. The question is whether they would come to Everton at the moment.

What I mean, and maybe I should have rephrased it better, is they don’t just sit in a low block and boot it long to a 6ft 4 striker and hope to pick up 2nd balls. There must be 11/12 teams with better squads and players, so they won’t dominate the ball. When they do win the ball back, they go forward in numbers and pass it quick and move.

Because clubs don't sell their players in January. So I imagine any players we want will be bought in summer. The alternative is to buy others that we don't want.
Well clearly we won’t buy any players we don’t want.

I’d rather us explore the loan market (budget headroom permitting) to get full backs who will improve our position and/or options, to give us the best shot of attempting Europe. At least that way we are not lumbered with them long term.

I think what I was trying to say was that the players we want are unlikely to be available in January so we'll just have to wait.

i’m saying we will tho

he’s just a martínez IMO
You loved dyche and Moyes, but hate young managers who try and actually get their teams to play football. Bournemouth have conceded more goals in 23 this season than
The whole of last season. But loosing 2 class CB’s is their any wonder.
That’s what he’s up against. Half his best 11 sold in 18 months

I heard an Efc pod saying summer that because the WC is extended then doing business this summer will be quite tough too.
