January Transfer Window 2026

I have this thing in the back of my head that says they will convince Carlo to return and they back him properly this time.
That would be the dream. A place where he could retire. One last project, this time with proper financial power.

Alas, I suspect he'll have better options - or doesn't fancy it anymore.

To be fair, as much as Moyes irritates me, the truth is unless the owners show ambition and competence, it won't really matter who manages us. Managers come and go. Few outperform their budgets. Moyes did - but that was a small budget. His curse is he proved unable to outperform a big one at United, so no reason why he would with New Everton either in time.

Just in case there is any doubt about us doing business this month...

….i just wonder with the owners seeing us safe, Moyes doing the job they brought him in to do and the big investments in Dibling and Barry not yet bearing fruit, they want to sit this window out and reassess in the summer.

I expect they’re generally happy with how things have gone since the takeover, maybe with the exception of main financial transfers.

Has he got the choice and backing ?

Maybe this season is the question mark before sanctioning him further funds.

I dont know, I'm not questioning Moyes.
Just another possible perspective on what "we don't know" is going on behind the scenes..
Everything reported from behind the scenes indicates we have funds available, just remember Moyes is known to be persnickety about spending money and quite the stickler about finding a "good buy"

Bobble said that it is Moyes pushing for reinforcements and the committee who are reticent. But, no doubt it is nuanced - Moyes will probably turn down a lot of options and the committee will probably be open to doing some business if it fits their plans.

But generally it is Moyes who is the one who is pushing supposedly.
Happy with this if it stops Moyes saddling us with Wilson and Soucek on 5 year contracts

Hopefully something likely does happen because the team needs it.

There seems to be no plan at Everton tho, just exist and pick up the nice wages the premier league provides.

And some wonder why there is a lack of patience and cynical attitudes.

He made it clear last summer it was difficult attracting quality players. We face exactly the same problem next summer then if we finish around mid table. So what’s the ,point? it’s progress we need.

Stability provides nothing but existing in the league and people buy into it because they don’t want the fear of yet another relegations battle.

It’s sad what this club has become

Shall we just rename the thread to Unlikely January but possibly Summer Transfer Window 2026 🤔
Or 'The thread that'll make you take up smoking'

Has to push for players would have thought be talks about new players leading up to it but sounds like the summer again. Not agree on players and drag it out so poor

it’s frustrating that we have money to spend but aren’t spending it.

But I think Moyes is looking after PSR.

Yes it’d be nice to push for Europe. But realistically- before a ball was kicked this season, how many would have taken finishing 9th-14th but comfortably away from relegation. Next year would be the one to push for Europe for me.

Not asking to go crazy with money like the price for larsen but would buying a rb put the clubs psr that much out. That and another loan

Is the Goodison Supper Bar still open? Could be critical in his decision
