January Transfer Window 2026

Who Johnson? He might be able to at a push but he's much more of a wide forward

Not that I know of mate...might be wrong though.

Played up top for Wales...and scored. Don't get me wrong, his best position is as a wide forward, but he is miles better than what we have currently. Then if we do get a target man type number 9, he can go back out wide.

Useful seeing we don't know what's happening with Grealish or Ndiaye next season.

I dunno, I don't think he's all that personally and especially in a role that doesn't suit him. He's hardly prolific even when in a Postecoglou team which is geared for attacking play so under Moyes I can't imagine him scoring much at all

Europe with this squad would be carnage. Its a double edged sword. Aim for the stars but in reality its a problem for all but the biggest clubs, Villa seem to cope ok but Forset and Palace and defo Newcastle all struggling with the added games and small squads.
Surely if we got Europe we’d have more revenue from games, sponsorship increase as they would get more coverage from us as team in Europe.

If we qualify via the league its more prize money.

So you might not do brilliant that first year back in Europe but it would help in recruitment and be a sign to new players/onces we don’t want to lose that club is moving up now just relegation fodder

There needs to be a decision on how the team is going to play. It’s a bit all over the place at the moment.

The Grealish KDH Ndiaye triumvirate makes sense on paper as three schemers behind a striker but if that striker is Beto then it doesn’t work at all, and the lack of pace causes issues.

We need to decide who is playing striker and then build the team to provide the service they need. If it’s Barry and he wants crosses and pull backs then we might need two quick wingers on either flank to stretch teams and create space for him. If he wants interplay around the box then Grealish and Ndiaye will need to come inside closer and we may need overlapping fullbacks and a more defensive midfield three.

At the moment we’re trying to do a bit of everything.

If any answer is KDH as a 10 then i dont want to know the question :(

Tweets have since been posted naming Everton with an interest too... so may end up involving us but could also be BS

? He can play as an out and out forward.

Hes got about 20 goals in 50 odd games as a centre forward.

I'd actually have him with Barry as a centre forward option. Said this last week i think.

Johnson is rapid and can finish + lay the ball off.

What he doesnt have are the skills outside the box other than pace. You need to get him in the box coming from a wider start at pace OR have him as a fox in the box using his acceleration and finishing ability.

As a winger id say no. As a centre forward for £35mil if we could sell Beto for £20mil then its worth considering.

Again though...a stretch.

If we are going to continue to play in a low block and try to hit teams on the break he is exactly the sort of player that we need and don't have .
He may not be the best footballer around but he has genuine pace which defenders hate to face.

You may be right but I just can't picture him leading the line for us in a Moyes tactical system. He's also been dropped by Wales this year which is a bit of a red flag considering how ordinary their team is

I dont think we're hitting teams on the break or that, that is the plan going forward.

Based on how we were last season and now this season its slowed down notably.

You will see that I said "sort of player". As it happens I'm a bit on the fence about him but you could ( and we have ) done worse as a signing for that sort of money.

I'd prefer a proper out and out striker personally but each to their own
I'm not advocating for him ( I thought I'd made that clear ) but it is surely undeniable that we need pace in the team.
Of course a combination of Didier Drogba and Linford Christie would be better but I really don't have any faith in our recruitment team being able to spell , let alone go after , Serhou Guirassy.

You say Palace might be finding it difficult but I bet their fans are absolutely loving it . If they finish where they are in 9th , they’ll be one worse than last year and still their second best league finish since 1992.

Forest problems feel more than European qualification and being on their third manager can’t help . Their squad is also more than good enough to compete .

As for Newcastle yeah they’re struggling but do we think that’s totally Europe based or more they have a manager who is maybe coming the end of the line .

West Ham as a club had probably the greatest day in their history , I’d sacrifice a lot for that trophy however derided it might be . Yeah our squad is shorty but I’d like to think European qualification would lead to a strengthening.

I watch football to see Everton and see them preferably win, dream of winning a trophy & to have a laugh with mates . European qualification would be an indication the club are successful and assist in achieving all the goals listed above . In short , Europe yes please (I don’t think it’ll happen by the way ) .
