I think it’s a bit of a myth that our central midfield has been good.

The midfield setup is killing us at the moment, the current combination of players just isn't working no matter how people want to dress it up.

One of our biggest problems as a former big club is a sense of pride holds us back. If we were just to accept our place in the natural order and put a smart structure/strategy in place we could actually do quite well and potentially win the odd cup competition.

Take the Gordon situation. Brighton would have taken the money on the table and invested in 1 or possibly 2 better players. However, for us we still have that pride. ‘Gordon is one of our own’ and we hold onto him for another year or two.

They gave us a foundation maybe in the first 8 odd games mate, but have been found out since as teams have watched how we played, they don’t support play enough, they don’t give the back four an out let enough, they can’t beat the press, passing isn’t the best and they are slow up the field, discipline isn’t he best either. As a unit they aren’t great.

And also we'll score and create with these players and a real manager way better than we are now. So Kev could fix it like that.

It’s not about spending recklessly, it’s about identifying the issues and addressing them with your resources.

Also, we didn’t create chances under Ancelotti when certain players were out, the fat pig man made it worse by letting creative players leave and now Lampard has been given people like McNeil. So you’re wrong, again.

This issue is years old, it’s not getting fixed with a change of management. Only delusional thinking would make people believe this

fixed that sentence for you lol. Well i guess we will find out if Thelwell, Lampard and the board will be pro active like with Mykolenko.
It will be difficult, but i remember the name Perreira/ex West Brom was mentioned on here some time ago. Exactly the type of player we could do with and possible to bring in early.
I doubt though we manage anyone before Brighton though. That would mean a medical this week lol. Everton that !!!

It our midfield is not functioning properly I don’t think it’s down to a lack of quality TBH.

We probably could have got Gakpo and Kudas for around £60 million in the summer. Both were available. Richi money could have been used. He was sold early in the window. Instead we left it late and Ajax lost a player and didn’t want to sell another.
Be the same in January. We won’t get anyone in until the last few days. Be far too late then.

It’s an interesting point mate and one worth considering the three lads in there are on big money, I’m not sure they are worth it.

They don't work together , and more worring , don't seem to have a roll they are comfortable with.
