I dont think Gordon will unless he has a rocket of a second half, if Gordon goes for decent money in Summer it means he's had a greart 2nd half which probably means hes contributed enough to warrant the extension anyway.

Bare in mind Davies/Begovic are probably on buttons in relative terms.

Mina and Doucoure are the key ones really that will fetch the wedge back in. Coady will be bought most likely on a full.

Coleman wont be on a small contract, has had a few contract extensions so far so that would have tallied up.

Townsend? Doing punditry, probably an indication that his time as a footballer is up due to that bad injury. Perhaps a few appearances towards the end of the season who knows.

I could see Dacs having his deal optioned for another season and be a squad player, we'll no doubt come to an agreement for Coady, no one will be daft enough to buy Mina in January (assuming he's fit for 5 minutes at a time of course), Coleman probably be a coach or something, the others no big loss. Hopefully Townsend might actually do a bit of that football malarky we pay him for, if it isn't too inconvinient for his other job of course.

Im not totally convinced that Coady is a forgone conclusion, there may be an agreement in place between Wolves and Everton, but the lad himself will have a say and there are always three parties , if Wolves rocket up the table and their new manager fancies him, speaks to him, twists his arm and tells him hes key to the future and we tank, the lad will do what's best for him.

I wasn't suggesting he was doing the punditry gig off his own back; clearly the club ok'd it. If he's fulfilling all his obligations to the club and medical recovery, then fair enough, it just doesn't have a good look to it is all: the club providing him with all the support to get fit again through a long lay off but he's doing other gigs to get his foot in the door elsewhere. I wonder how many other clubs/managers would be ok with their players doing the same?

Possibly. Im assuming that we stay up (which is a big assumption), other factors are that his child is in the academy of some sort (whether that's a pre-academy, u8's, whatever I don't know), Family up here.

You're right, a new manager and a big surge up the table could change things, but at present, assuming we stay up I think he'll be signed permanently.

Even if he isn't that again provides more wiggle room to spend in summer.

I dont think the clubs insurance covers wages of injured players mate.

Apparently we're on the verge of two exciting deals that will surely go a great length to keeping us in the league: contract extensions for Iwobi and Gordon. lol

To be fair that is good news.

Too much focus, by most football fans, on new players and signing players as being the ultimate fix and/or the measure of ambition.

Personally I think retention of your better players is just as important and is a show of ambition when they are being attracted by other clubs who can potentially offer a bigger chance of success and maybe even higher wages.

Think were lacking a player with "star" quality there, a proper ball player who can run games.

I think that was going to be Kudus, we will have to wait and see what happens.

Looks like we are bidding 25 million for Danny Ings.

Interesting one is Ings.

Feels like a reasonable amount for what amounts to a short term fix. On the other hand, if he stays fit I think he's a starker that gets you 1 in 3 and offers good all round ability. Good hold up and link up play but also happy to run the channels and stretch defences.

Would be a better signing if we were getting a 26 year old Danny Ings rather than the version that's 31 before the start of next season
