Agree with this. Especially if we want to stay top 4. We don't have the depth right now as is exhibited by Mirallas going down.
We need one more class striker. A spearhead type. Every big club has at least two that are "up there".
We have, as a spearhead like: Jelavic and Anichebe. And then Vellios.
Now, compare them to strikeforces like Rooney and RvP (+ chicharito and welbeck, good lord),
Tevez and Aguero (and Dzeko, jesus christ)
Adebayor and Defoe (still better)
Giroud and Podolski (even effing chamakh!)
effing Torres and Sturridge, maybe not entirely, but Drogba, like?
Cisse and Ba (who'll be up there come the AFCON?)
And i will not accept Naismith as a viable option up front in a 4231, 4411 or 451.
Defence needs fixing too. Two or even three new faces, to be frank. We simply need a utility player type that can cover DM as well. Odjidja-Ofoe would still be worth a punt i figure. Vegard Forren just won the title in Norway. Time to buy him, then. We'd also benefit from a young type to replace Neville, Hibbo, Distin eventually.

Kay and the other american lids will have watched him more than I have but I kind of like the idea of us stealing Espinoza from under Wigan's nose. Will be a star that lad.

Well.....I still want to give him a chance, but I don't disagree with that sentiment based on his performances so far. Not ready to kick him to the curb mind you - he looks like he is still adjusting. We will know by the end of December if we can depend on him this year. Course, if he's utter gash during that time period I'll have ripped my hair out by then. So there's that. Sigh.

For the right price, he would be a very smart purchase as a holding midfielder. Most likely not ready to start, but anyone who got a standing ovation at St. James Park after taking on Brazil deserves at least a look. Frankly, I'm surprised more clubs aren't in for him.
For those who don't know Roger Espinoza he's a holding midfielder for Sporting Kansas City in MLS and he also has recently become more of a starter on the Honduras National Team. He had an absolutely stellar Olympics which pretty much sealed the deal for Wigan - who were interested in him pre-Olympics, and probably came with paperwork ready post-Olympics.
Question is how much will MLS sell him for. Based on Geoff Cameron, probably less than $5M.
