January scenario planning

Tom Ince, Will Hughes, Jordan Rhodes. All good players who are still learning and would fit into this kind of environment. Personally I would want a centre back, centre mid and a striker. But I know that isn't going to happen unless we win the lottery.

If we are going to ship out Johnny and Jela, I would want them replacing. As already mentioned, it is a squad game and we finally look like we have a squad rather than just 13/14 players.

Not for me mate - there is something special going on in terms of atmosphere, momentuim and this group of players and their relationship with the manager. We were without Baines, Mirallis and Barkley at the weekend - we didnt bat an eye lid, the players who came in were more then able, we have the right depth and its important that the whole squad even those who are not considered regulars feel they contribute, there is a chance and are invloved. Id sturrggle to think who we could get in who is better then Delefou, who get into midfeild ahead of Macker, Ross and Barry. I dont think we need anything. That could be Oviedos last start of the season in the first team last night - but what a contribution.

Then there is always the Faustino Asprilla factor.

There are always areas of the squad to improve, even the top sides in world football are never satisfied with what they've got. Another striker is needed, and i'd add another CM. Osman isn't good enough.

You need to leave the blue tinted spectacles at home, mate. He's done nothing for the last 12 months and to suggest that he's going to make a significant contribution when coming to the end of his contract is laughable. We're a professional football club, not a charity.

All in all, he may not be costing us the earth, but he's still a pretty expensive teaboy to have around.

Tar for the lesson in what we are mate, i also know that its not a game of fm or some abstract thing, its a sport involving players with connections to others, with morale being a huge factor of that, with everton being a club that prides itself on how much of a family we are, but apparently in the last 6 months of his contract we should offload someone whose been at this club since hes been a schoolboy to save a few bob

As for leaving the blue tinted specs at home, nah id rather treat a true evertonian whose played for this club his entire career with the respect he deserves by letting him see out his remaining contract and should the need arise play whatever part he can until that moment

I'm all for it being as it is. But you can improve upon what we have now. We need a striker desperately. Because Lukaku isn't here to stay. A midfielder would be good, because injuries to either McCarthy or Barry leaves us a bit exposed. Squad harmony is important of course, but it shouldn't stop you looking to buy players.

I think jan will be about adding options to the squad, with a view to bringing them in. Maybe a surprise or 2.

I like that Tomkins at West Ham, likes to play a bit, but gets alladyce screaming at him to hit it !!

I think we definitely need to improve our squad with possibly Heitinga and Jelavic leaving. Another reason we need to strengthen is due to only have Deulofeu and Romelu on loan deals which is a shame, so we will have to introduce a few new players in them areas. People saying that Moyes wasn't given money last Jan or didn't buy anybody that was because he knew he was leaving at the end of the season.

Other than a backup striker, preferably a youngster or a veteran who would accept not playing every game because of Lukaku, and another CM to backup Barry and McCarthy, but I think we are cover everywhere for this season.

I also agree that if the right type of players are available in january we should sign them for next season.

If Lukaku, MC Carthy or Jags get injured we do not have ready made quality of the same stature to replace those players.

Everton will never have a better chance to make a run for the top 4.

Pressure is on Bill

We're not likely to get much value in January and I don't think that anyone we buy is going to get into the first team as things stand unless Barkley starts to feel the effects of his first full season.

I'd probably look to use the slot we have available for a foreign loanee to bring some goals or creativity into the side, especially as we don't have a lot of cover in those areas. I don't really fancy anyone from the American league because we'd only have them for about 6 weeks.

Players with expiring contracts such as Menez (PSG), McGeady, Ince and Berbatov might be the best solutions to give us a lift for the run-in.

I agree. I'd definitely look at Berbatov because we could play him in the hole, alongside Lukaku or in place of him and he'd offer us something different. He's proven and it would be a nominal outlay.

Hopefully Alcaraz will stay fit and offer cover at the back if we let Heitinga leave.

I'm not sure if Stones has been slotting in as a third centre back or if he's been playing in front of the back four when he's been coming on but it would be interesting to see whether he could deputise for McCarthy.

I think we need to look at one or two specific areas in January rather than panicking about squad depth. If anything happens to Lukaku we could seriously drop away but I think we could cover for pretty much anyone else.

I'd spend it all on an amazing attacking midfielder that we have no realistic chance of getting. Would give us a better chance of CL this season and I think it's what we need anyway to take the team up another level. If Mata fancies playing for Roberto that'd be nice.

Maybe the biggest stumbling block to that happening (if he was allowed to leave and we hadn't already used our domestic loans up) is that Mourinho wouldn't want to be made to look a fool twice if Mata also shone with us.

Heitinga will go. Doubtful jelavic since despite what some say he's got lots left and that is going in the vault.

Jelavić was overplayed by moyes. Burnt him out.
