Bruce Wayne

Player Valuation: £100m
So we're currently in 5th spot, 3 points clear of Spurs below us. We have Arsenal up next before very winnable games against Fulham (h), Swansea (a), Sunderland (h) and finally Southampton at Goodison to round out the year.

Given that run of games, we could potentially find ourselves in the top 4 by the time the January window opens. Do you think we would gamble a bit and give RM some money to keep us there?

Probably not.

But Martinez's Everton will still keep winning games anyway. Cause we're boss, and bosser than any other teams considered boss. We're the bossest.

....I really don't like these predictive threads as they rarely work out. I prefer periodic benchmarks, mine is always 20 points for Xmas is fine, 25 is European form. We have reached that milestone already, great stuff. I know its a cliché, but its never truer in this league that we need to take each game as it comes.

but there IS some money, so im quite sure Bobby will do business...or what did you actually mean by gamble Bruce?

I don't consider it to be gambling, as spending and improving your squad is a fundamental requirement of premier league football clubs. Everyone will be doing it, from the club in 20th to the club in first place.

Not only that, but we have excess money available from the Fellaini transfer, and the second and third tranches of a bumper new TV deal coming our way.

Well lets say we have £5 million to spend anyway. If we were sitting in 3rd spot, would it be worth giving RM more than that to try and keep us there?

I'm kinda expecting our rivals to spend quite heavily in January. United are almost certain to spend big, whilst Rodgers is already complaining about his squad so they may spend also.

So do we take a bit of a gamble if we find ourselves in the CL slots on January 1st or do we carry on as we would normally and hope it's enough?

he had better be given money when he wants it

otherwise we're gonna have a job trying to keep our new manager never mind the loanees

i think also a lot of this is does kenwright get infected by martinez's optimism and positivity, much as i do hate kenright, its a possibility

Not just January planning but planning for next summer should be done too.
As great as the club is doing let's not forget that potentially we will lose 2 of our better players in Barry and Lukaku who will need replacing.
Nothing wrong with forward planning!

You should never gamble or buy for the sake it. Clearly there is some money available and if the right players become available at the right price then sure I hope we would bring them in. If not wait till the summer and maybe just look at the loan market to help the squad a little.

If we lose a player, I expect he'll be replaced. Not sure how Bill would feel about adding to the wage bill.

We hoped the same this time last year, however I've a feeling there's definitely some money available. You've got to wonder if our inertia in the transfer market last January was because Moyes knew he was off and didn't want to blow our summer budget in players someone else would be managing

.....he might just have an eye on Lukaku and Gerry's loan status and look to bring players in, especially as we have limited cover up front with Kone's long-term injury.
