Tarkowski is clearly better option as right cb. Who plays left of him in center matters a great deal.

Awful so far this season and at fault for the goal yesterday. Him and Branthwaite rarely lost a header last season but he's been woeful so far this season. Hurry back Jarrad and hopefully you can get Tarkowski to improve his level.

There's this big Belgian lad at Villa that has been let off the leash by Emery. Well, whilst he was playing for Everton he was very much under orders to sit and play very defensively. That defensive influence is now missing, that cover and ability to retain possession. It's not a free run at the CB's but the soft underbelly of the side is more exposed and now we see defence under a lot more pressure. It's not helped by our half a left back missing and a chronic malaise at right back. A defensive unit needs to be just that, a unit, defend as a block and hold the line by communicating to cover off sides.

There's no stability, there's a bit less pace, Tarkowski seems to be playing through injury, and there's a revolving door policy of playing whoever and trying to slot O'Brien as well as. And Onana is missing. Emery didn't push the boat out with £50M to get him for a laugh.
