James isn’t the problem. The problem is when he plays Carlo feels the need to shoehorn Siggurdson into the midfield and that causes us to effectively play with ten men. Put Allan and Docuoure behind James and there’s be no problem. When Siggurdson was punted upfront ahead of James against Wolves we also won because he was out of the middle and couldn’t cause any damage. We need to let our one truly world class number ten play in his correct position with proper midfielders behind him, pace on either flank, and a striker ahead. We need to stop always pandering to Gylfi f’in Siggurdson who has been the single biggest blight on this club for close to five years now. Until he leaves or is out of the team we won’t achieve anything.

I’m sure all them players were desperate to stay at Everton. Can’t believe those nasty people on GOT chased them away!
It seems like something has completely changed within the squad recently. Although we weren’t great early on in the season still we were still able to get everyone involved and make things happen, even against those sides who’d get in our faces and try and nullify us (Brighton, West Brom & Palace) I’m not sure wether it’s a different approach to games or the constant reshuffling off the line up due to fitness levels and rotation but something needs to be worked on again to get us playing like we were early on.
Pointless having Rodriguez in the team if all we are going to do is stand off the opposition allow them free will on the ball and dominate possession. He’s the type of player we need to keep playing the ball to, the player who needs those around him to be making runs and looking to receive the ball from him. Right now the current system/personnel is completely non-function-able for him. He’s a passenger and it’s little wonder he’s asking to get himself subbed early on in games. Grafting for scraps from big dogs like Fulham isn’t his style. Those around him need to wake up and find their form again or the system needs adjusting to get the best out of him.

You can carry certain players without pace if you play to their strengths. Pirlo for example didn’t have any but surround him with pace and power to allow him time on the ball and he could kill teams. Messi doesn’t have any pace now but get him in the penalty area and similarly he’s still world class .
What we can’t do is stack a team full of players without pace then expect them to play a pressing game which is effectively what we did against Fulham.
If opposition defences had a real front three to deal with, and we were winning the ball back in midfield through Allan and Docuoure, then James would fin himself in lots of space to play world class passes. At the moment there’s no space because defences know our forwards have no pace if DCL doesn’t play, and opposition midfields know they can mark James because there’s no way Siggurdson or Davies are ever catching them on the transition.

He has to play in the middle really. Having him on the right leaves us so open out that side and forces Doucoure to shift out of position to cover him. The number 10 position is dying off but when he's playing he needs to be in that role with wide players either side and two centre mids behind him.

Truth is I've been busy and to use the little bit of time I have navigating through all the piles of negative [Poor language removed] we see here after a bad performance is not worth it. Id rather use my time better and wait until the crazies take their Xanax
We saw with the first few games of the season what we can do, when everyone is fit and firing on all cylinders.
We weren`t just winning games, we were overpowering teams. It`s a long time since we`ve been able to say that.
However, as has been said many times before, the squad is wafer thin and the moment you take key players out, the performances drop massively due to the second rate squad players who fill in.
Whilst we are reliant on the likes of Siggurdson, Davies, Bernard etc to fill in, we`re always going to have games where we struggle and will do until we can replace them with better quality players.

We need 6 midfielders in my view to play 433. Three starters and players who can cover for each position. They all need to be of similar pace and power if we want there to be no drop off in performance. At the moment we have two in Allan and Docuoure and Allan is injured quite a lot. We need to hope Gbamin can return in ok condition, and then realistically we need another three midfielders. That way we can rotate, cover for suspensions and injuries, make subs in games without seeing this massive drop off in quality. Even in the first game of the season against Spurs we had controlled it until Gomes went off and Siggurdson came on and from that point we were under the cosh and almost threw it away because they completely got on top off us in midfield. We can’t be going from Allan to Siggurdson, Richarlison to Bernard, DCL to Tosun. We need better quicker players.
