They will have been running stories about how we have no money at the start of the window, can't attract that type of player a few weeks ago, he doesn't fit our system/past it now, wonder why no other clubs came in for him if he starts well, then he's too good for Everton if he continues good form.

Re the "on paper" argument, what we haven't had in the last 2 (and more) seasons is stable management. Chelsea have proven you can change managers frequently, as long as you, er, throw £300m in the transfer kitty with each appointment (even Fat Frank is now spending like a drunken sailor).

Side note - my late father always confused "Hamez" (from Cúcuta) with "Jay" from Burnley. I think we must've been linked with the Pendle Witch spawn some years ago. Once I'd clarified my old man's error, how we laughed at the idea of Everton ever signing "Hamez".
