AFAIK he was pulled out as a precaution before KO.

That's just sensible. And you can't blame the lad for wanting to represent his country...unless it's England like.
Sorry but if caution was the word he wouldn't have even been named on the bench never mind as a starter. Looks to me like ROI were ready to take the risk and start him.

I was out driving today and talkSPORT posed a question.

Which player from a 2nd. Division/Championship club has been transferred for the biggest transfer fee?

The criteria was a fellow had to actually play games at that lower level....ergo Cissoko and Darren Bent didn't count as they were transferred from recently relegated clubs but did not play for that club after relegation.

The answer was Jimmy Mac....he played five games in the Championship for Wigan before Bobby forked out £13.5 million for him :)

Coleman season over according to commentator. Red card given to Welsh player. Terrible injury. They're not showing the replay. FFS!

Looks likely he's made the decision last second; discretion is the better part of valor.

I know one thing, the bickering over his international career needs to stop. A lot of stress can be caused to the body by anxiety.

Ireland are absolutely foolish for calling him up.
He isn't fit and wasn't at all.
The very nature of Ireland calling him up in such circumstances leads to feelings of distrust.
EFC distrust Ireland as he isn't fit and hasn't been for weeks.
Ireland distrust EFC as they believe they have pulled him out previously when unable to fulfill domestic fixtures.

It's pathetic from the IFA. They are by far the oldest fashioned organisation in the western world when it comes to football.
Believe you should run through brick walls, get royally pissed on international duty, fly chartered flights, insist on players turning up to prove fitness.
Hardly the healthiest relationship and now with Coleman injury they will want a say in his recovery and treatment.
EFC will remind them of the damage they caused to messers Gibson and McCarthy on previous occasions.

As for McCarthy, I will drive him to Newcastle myself.

Suppose this has all been overshadowed by the Seamus injury.

But we only have these issues with the Irish Republic and it's not just with McCarthy, but same with Seamus and Gibson in the past. But it seems to be every International break with McCarthy. Lot's of people on here called exactly this, except we probably expected him to break down during the game itself, not the 'kin warm up.

You have to question McCarthy too. He's a professional footballer and knows his own body better than anybody. For me, his actions show a lack of commitment to his club and It's time to get rid. It's ironic really that we take his long term well being as paramount, but obviously he and his adopted country don't.

I've lost patience with him now and I really hope Koeman does too. We need to get shut in the summer.

Every footballer wants to play, the Irish fitness team should have been professional enough to have said he wasn't fit enough ... then again, maybe they did.

slightly better news about james, seems he made the decision to pull himself out, saying it didn't feel right, but that quote was from o'neil so probably rubbish.

Tough one, with so many midfielders missing if he was even 80% fit I'd have wanted gin to start tonight. Seems like he has made the decision himself though so great maturity shown by him.
