He was ok on the ball. But offered next to nothing protecting the back 4. Which is primarily his job no?

I wouldn't go that far, and there were times in the first half when he was our most advanced player.
Noticed he was initiating attacks in the second half today and knocking some good passes into the box.

He needs to learn how to tackle players. He has the engine to close players down but doesn't ever stick his boot in. Barry needs to give him a few lessons.

I think that was a little by design...played more advanced. Ultimately it was the 1 DM set up a lot have asked for when playing shoite sides.

Think that was about the role he got given today, Barry to sit and McCarthy to pressure the ball high and force it further forward.

He loses the ball so many times, it is just not like him. Really hope he picks up some form, he was a main reason for our great season in 2013/14 and one of the few better ones last season.
