We need a top class centre midfielder. Either a superstar deep lying playmaker who can "make us tick" and lead by example or a really tough box to box centre midfielder.

Vieira or Roy Keane in the centre alongside Barkley and McCarthy would be insane.

We definitely miss his energy. Barry covers a lot of ground and despite our recent results I still think is playing well, but McCarthy adds that extra bit of mobility we need in the midfield. I like Cleverly and he's been good for us, but not in McCarthy's position.

There is more than one issue. But him being out is a huge factor in our inability to keep clean sheets. He prevents opposition counters from getting in on our defence so easily.
