Bit embarrassing to see some of the comments from some of our fans wishing injuries on players, but I also think the West Ham reaction is over the top as well. Fans these days seem to have forgotten that football is a game where mistimed tackles and unfortunate injuries can happen. The bitterness and outrage from West Ham is a joke.
It wasn't a great challenge, but there was no malice in it. For me, it's one of those scissor tackles which is actually more dangerous than these so called over the top challenges that refs love dishing out red cards for. Take Mark Noble at Anfield for example. McCarthy's was a lot worse on Saturday, but there was no intent to injure the player like West Ham are making out.
They lose any credibility though by crying that he wasn't already booked for his earlier collision with Payet and then screaming that Coleman also set out to injure Valencia. The first McCarthy challenge was a coming together, no more no less, and the Coleman one was a perfectly acceptable challenge.
Feel sorry for Payet and hope he makes a swift recovery though as he's been one of the best players in the league so far and it's unlucky for West Ham but these things happen unfortunately.
