Baines had made a lot of snide statements for two seasons before Martinez turned on him. If I'd have been Martinez I'd have sold him in the third summer for insubordination. He was very fair to that player. Unlike Koemans cruel treatment of Niasse.

As said, his treatment of Niasse stands out as the most nasty between player and manager at this club in my memory.

Baines ??? Snide ?? He is one of the most affable, amiable, Chilled out fellas we have at the club. Every new player names him first in the welcoming stakes. Never heard a bad word against him...except from Martinez. Where the hell did you hear that he was being snide for two seasons ? Proof....or it didnt happen.

In the wrong for sure and Koeman reacting in this way is not only correct but a neccessity.
Klopp was asked very similar questions in his presser. He answered very carefully basically saying Llanna's injury was unfortunate but he wouldnt dream of stopping the lad from playing for his country.
It was, I'm sure a pop at Koemans response for the same questions....thing is Llanna wasnt injured BEFORE the england game he was injured during it.....HUGE difference.
It needed pointing out that Macca wasnt match fit in the first place and is again unavailable for his club for christ knows how long.

I think you are right. It has gone far enough and both sides need to draw a line under it and move on.

As a matter of interedt where do you stand on this? Do you think either O'Neill or the player were wrong to go against medical advice or justified taking a risk with the playrers well being due to the importance of the game.

Klopp's press conference came before Koeman's. I think you are reading too much into it.
 

Tbf Koeman for every right to fume and hang O'Neil in public, this is not the first time he got against our medical advice and sending him back injured for the third time.

Can see both sides so I wouldn't accuse them of being wrong as such, but with the benefit of hindsight that proved to be the case.
 
Would have been the perfect sub for Barkley yesterday. A shame the international break screwed us so bad.
 

As far as I am aware the medical staff of both Everton and FAI advised against McCarthy playing, O'Neill and the player chose to ignore this advice. O'Neill , I care little about, he was ,is and ever shall be an arrogant , odious little twit. But McCarthy ,I am very disappointed in. Would expect him sold in the summer. Good player but a bit of an idiot. Good riddance.
 
I like McCarthy but the injuries were mounting up and for me, he shouldn't have risked the last game for Ireland,

Time to sell....hope another young lad can come through to take his place on the bench, Williams/Walsh and we sign another star.

Hope he goes on to have a good career elsewhere
