Oh, if spurs came back with that £20m they were meant to be offering a season or two ago, I'd accept it.

I didn't see it, but apparently Koeman was furious with him on Tuesday, which resulted in him being subbed.

That's probably about right to be fair.

Koeman obviously looks on Barry and Gana as first choice in that sort of position. Barry won't last for ever, but McCarthy isn't an obvious long-term replacement for him anyway.

He's been a good signing for us and gets some unfair stick, but he needs to show some improvement in some aspects of his game or he'll just end being a slightly better than average defensive midfielder. I hope ( probably for emotional reasons ) he can do that with us, but I wouldn't be gutted if he left.

Right now it's hard to see who he's the backup for in the centre mud, certainly not Barry which is why we've probably had so many links to centre mids, although have the feeling Barry has surprised Koeman with how effective he still is.

A lot of the frustration with McCarthy comes no doubt from three years of fundamentally no improvement to the sides of his game that are weak. And dunno if you can change that or if the manager is even willing to put that much work into doing so atm.

Time will tell really, till then we're all just pontificating really

Yeah if we buy two quality mids between now and the window closing then sure sell him, but I don't think we will. I'd shift Cleverly and Gibson on before Jimmy.
