James McCarthy

Dont take my comment out of context, James is indeed a very cultured intelligent midfielder, not since Gravenson and Carsley have we had that tenacity... You jump over James back wall and your gonna get bitten is all i,m saying FFS!!!

Agreed. We've not had a central midfielder with that aggression since Carsley.

Good Little player but he does need to improve his acceleration and speed . Our midfield is to slow look what happened when Barkley played there we dominated

Just watching a bit of the game back. Suarez doing all sorts of arm waving about a Coleman tackle on Gerrard and you can clearly make out McCarthy look him in the eye and say '[Poor language removed] off you [Poor language removed]', great stuff.

Ace. well in wee man.

I. Like. James. McCarthy.

I. Think. He's. A. Good. Player.

I've. Lost. Count. Of. The. Amount. Of. Times. I've. Said. This.

Yes - it's called "average". Which is what I'm calling him. Ordinary. Bog standard. Mediocre. Whatever word you care to use.

Interesting.

So Jelavic will still come good but this change of opinion is based on 20 minutes when defending a lead against Chelsea, eh?

Some of the posts in this thread are brilliant.

He still hasn't proved it at all. I think he's done a "good" job since joining but I think he can be even better. At the moment I think he's a decent Premier League midfielder but not much more. Let's not overhype the kid after being at the clubs three months.

Of course, this will once again be warped into "Tubey hates McCarthy" FFS

WHY DO YOU HATE JAMES TUBEY? WHY?

Because he's ginger or something, obviously.

He's settled in a lot quicker than I expected and he's stepped his game up to the higher level. I thought it'd take him a season and in the meantime he'd be in and out, mostly on the bench. Glad to be wrong on that count, but it's just three months, we need to see him maintain and step up another few levels over the next year and become a dominant force a bit further up the field as well, as I don't think he's a sitting midfielder.
