...time will truly tell if he represents value for money, but even at this stage I'd be loathe to swap him with either joe allen (£15m) or jordan henderson (£20m).

This word 'energy' keeps popping up. All players expend it, but he does seem to be particularly blessed with an ability to apply high levels of it for the whole game. That seems like damning him with faint praise, but in order to receive and move the ball often enough to influence a game's pattern you must have that.
We will agree to disagree on that. I like Barry and he sees things well but I'm not sure his body matches his mental agility. He is far better than our other options at the moment, obviously. I think we may have done brilliantly with McCarthy though.McCarthy and Barry CM is boss, they complement each other so well.
