James McCarthy

I'm not being funny mate, I see improvement in style, but not results and its a results game.
Lincoln, if he fannys about against them, I'm very concerned.

Mate using that logic we should have kept sam, seeing as he improved our results massively when he took over

Thought this was the McCarthy thread...not the 'post nonsense about Silva' thread...

McCarthy has to go pronto...every window I hope someone comes in for him and every window hes injured.

Just need to get his wages off the books, any transfer fee is a bonus.

Agree with the above. A decent player on his day but Everton need better than decent. If you got anywhere around 10 million then you'd be doing well when selling.

You know 12 months ago, I may have agreed with you. If we finish 8th this season playing an expansive style, I’ll be a lot more optimistic happier then I was finishing 8th under Allardyce. I suppose what I’m saying as a personal opinion is style is important.

I know what you are saying. Silva is the best manager since Moyes for me. He has a philosphey he is trying to develop a team around, in implementing that patience is required and I wholly expect boom and bust football this season. I’m very confident the longer he is here the better we will get. It was the Chelsea game for me that I knew we had excellent manager on our hands,

The difference with Sam is that he was not going to change his style, and had he remained here 2-3 years would have maintained the turgid approach that he employed, at Bolton for example, longer term. That was and is unacceptable to Everton supporters.

Silva, I believe, is building something that involves much more attractive, and traditional Everton-style football. This will take time, but I believe if he is given the chance we will be significantly better in 2-3 years.

In the meantime that may mean some poor results, and disappointing league position but, as has been said elsewhere, I can clearly remember the beginning of January 1984 !!!!

'nuff said!

As regards James McCarthy, I am so disappointed for him regarding his horrific injury record. He is NOT a malingerer, and this was shown anytime he did play - he tackled fearlessly - maybe this is what led to some of the worst injuries.

I really hope he can come through into the Everton first team squad. If not, I wish him every success should he go elsewhere.

We were 19th in the entire league last year in shots. 16th in shots on target. We conceded 58 goals last year and scored 44. We’ve been unlucky to not have a few more point, but come on. This is a MUCH better team under Silva.

Agree with all the above mate, good post.

Looked fantastic when he first arrived, but injury's, and a high managerial turnover at Toffeeland, have done him no favours.

Can't see him getting back into our starting 11, but good luck to him when he moves on.

A decent player and lad, but not much to offer Silva and our evolving team I think.

You may be right but I would like Jimmy Mac to be given a chance. If the injury affects him like Coleman's seems to have affected him then he should be sold. But if he can come back as quick, mobile and as strong as he was at his best then I think there is a role for him in the squad and possibly the starting eleven.

Not saying it will happen but Jimmy Mac has done enough to be given the opportunity to find out in my opinion.

This has all be said after his previous injurjes. He then gets a game and gets injured again.

Rinse + Repeat.

Convert him into a right back. He could be our James Milner. Can tackle and had an engine. He might even be less likely to get injured there. Not sure what I’m basing that on though. Yes, I’m serious.

Milner played left back and he is not as good as Milner and he needs shipping out asap.
