James McCarthy

If he goes for £8M, that'll be a net profit on Martinez signings of £36M - thus far.

And if anyone's having a go at McCarthy's quality they have very short memories and / or are clueless about football, because he was easily our best DM since Carsley.

He was excellent for a couple of seasons. Then injuries took their toll on him and he was treated terribly by Martin O Neill. It's time to sell though because we need players who are dynamic and available for the majority of the season.

Dave's right that he was a good player, but only when fit.

I don’t think anybody is having a go at his quality, but he’s barely kicked a ball for us in 3 years. That’s through no fault of his own, but he’s never been able to recapture the form of his first season, which is hardly surprising due to the cruel succession of injuries he’s had. It would be a good move for all parties concerned.

Considering we sold Lukaku for approx 50 mill profit that doesn’t say much for his other signings.

Accept the offer Marcel and dont let him play even another second of football, in fact dont even let him train because it is an absolute certainty that he will break something and be injured till his contract runs out. Would be made up getting 8 mill for him.
