Nostalgia getting the better of you? McCarthy, amongst others, had a stellar first season but for me he's been pretty average since then, bar a few stellar games.

You could say that about a lot of players though and he's not going to fix our lack of creativity in the middle by offering forward passes and/or dynamic movement.

Clearly he'll offer more in terms of tenacity and determination that Morgan, but in terms of footballing ability he's below him; merely an alternative for him or Gana.

Obviously the horrific challenge was not his fault, however over his time here the problem has been that he seems unable to stay fit. This is his sixth season here!
