He broke his leg badly playing for this great club and was excellent for a while with Barry in the middle. I just don't get how some folk speak about our own players. He always worked his backside off for this club. A bit limited maybe yes, but no shirker.

That's probably a fair price if we look at it objectively. While he ultimately wasn't good enough for Everton, he always seemed to play hard and carry himself professionally, as opposed to a few other players we have on the books that are basically just stealing a wage. Without all the injuries (many that occured while playing for his country), who knows what his time here may have looked like.
