Given he only has a year left on his contract anything north of £5m would be a good deal IMO.

If he can get himself match fit, and more importantly stay relatively injury free, that could prove to be money well spent for somebody.

It's a shame that the first figure mentioned was £8m because when the fee inevitably comes out, we'll no doubt be disappointed.
But the reality is that for a player with a year left on his deal, forever plagued by injury problems, and who hasn't shown any real form for about five years, the notion of any fee, however nominal, being rejected is slightly absurd in the cold light of day (even in a market as inflated as this one).
