No Gareth Barry? FFS.

Presuming Felli leaves to finance this, (although I notice the absence of Naismith and Gueye in the lineup) I would take it provided Ba and Fernando were permanent transfers rather than loans.

A bench of Robles, Stones, Oviedo, Gibson, Osman, Pienaar and whichever striker was in form would be ok.

McCarthy would be a decent cheap replacement for fellaini, but we should not be considering paying anything close to 50% of what we receive for Fellaini. He should really cost 6-8 million. For transfer deadline day, no more than 10, presuming we get 30 for Fellaini. McCarthy is not in the same league as Fellaini, and that should be represented in price. If Wigan want 15 for him, we should demand 45 for Fellaini, or not do that deal.
Wigan don't have to sell so if bobby wants him he will have to pay what they want

We can leave McCarthy at Wigan til January or the summer. I can't see any other club paying £13/14m for him in that time. His price will go down.

This is spot on. Sit tight with McCarthy, if Wigan look unlikely to get promoted, we will get him in January for around half what they are asking. Understandably Wheelan wants to give his club the best chance of promotion, and doesn't want to sell, which is reflected in the fee. If they are not coming up, Wheelan will know all to well that turning down 8 million would be silly.
