I never agreed that Spurs 'raped' Real on the fee at all.

Their buying history shows they've bought a grand total of four players for more than £25m in the past thirteen years.

You must be made up Brennz

Your fellow countryman leading the line for Madrid

McCarthy is a quality player and one I would personally love us to sign. This kid was talked about as a potential top 4 player last year by loads of respected pundits. For me would be a great signing it's just the fee I have an issue with but the British market is what it is.

Do you want me to make a list of all the utter crap pundits have talked that way about?

You get more sense from here on our worst days then from **** like MOTD.

Yet the people who have watched him most over the past few years disagree.

BREAKING NEWS.

Felliani, Baines and Barkley sold to United, Kenwright asked for a cash deal, Everton re-sign Yakubu.

Hahaha i laughed my t1ts off at that

I've not seen enough of the lad to make a judgement. All I'll say is; we're Everton James, and the minimum requirement is that you give 100% Okay James? James? JAMES?

So you've watched McCarthy extensively and took a DeLorean five years into the future to assess how he'll do for us?

Does McCarthy not play for a team on the globe? Or you spurning a crap phrase to use to beat him with a stick because you have some misplaced perception of him being a sh*te manager for us?

McCarthy is a talented boy, he will do a cracking job for us, I just dont feel he offers value at 14m.

Im just using Bobbys word bro, he said he wanted to get soaked in the Global market and then hes gone out and bought the spine of a team that just got relegated, a decent backup Keeper, an injured CB, a non goal scoring Striker, then he sells 1 of our best players and buys another player from Wigan, are you telling me that Wigan had 4 quality players last Season?

Lucky if they have had 4 quality players since they were founded.

Im not making a final decision on Martinez or any of the players either by the way, im just stating my viewpoint.

14m for McCarthy is stupid price to pay, we laughed at the RS for the 15m for Allen, its no different really, paint it however you want, but its the same sh1t.

See page 33, post 652 of this thread.

If you think that getting £35m for a player who is not in demand and who didn't attract interest with a release clause of £23m is 'more realistic' than getting £85m for a player who has just been sold.... for £85m, then good for you.

Deliberatley obfuscating the two meanings of the word "realistic" again pal. Try harder. By your definition there, one is realistic solely on the basis it has taken place, and the othe risn't because it hasn't. I'm referring to the comparative insanity of the two fees in relation to the subjective evaluation of the two players' abilities.

See page 34, post 676 of this thread - but you'll need to read up on what inflation is first.

Someone wanna help Brennan here? He's on the ropes.

Do they ?

Look I'm fully expecting him to go and have all summer. But I am a bit naffed off. Yesterday everyone reported a 12m bid from Everton had been laughed at. Today we are bending over for them at 12.5m? If its true then Madrid must wish Whelen et al ran Spurs - he'd have gone for 50m!

If Joe Allen is worth 17 million then James McCarthy is worth 25 million.

Roberto bleats about ManUre taking the piss,he is doing the same thing over McCarthy......

It should be £15 million MINIMUM! I hope Whelan tells Everton to [Poor language removed].

100% agreed

We should play hard ball with them. A lot of reports saying Fellaini will be gone once they have James. Everton won't want to have a sulking player on their hands disrupting the dressing room so we need to hold out for as much as we can get.

It's a bit like a housing chain, therefore if we want the true value for our house we hold out for that and the difference is made up between the parties higher up the chain.

Hold out for as much as you can get Dave, he'll still be in demand at Christmas or next summer.

I can see the point that he is a decent player, but he is just not what we need. With Gibson set to spend most of the season in the treatment room, as usual, could you imagine a central pairing of Osman and McCarthy? There is no strength or creativity in there, literally nothing. It's a partnership for a Championship side.

I believe fourteen million for him is high too but then most fees we'll pay at this time of year will be high. He's proven in the Premier League, Martinez knows him very well and has good potential to grow. The problem is that loads of lids on here haven't seen much of him or have some jazzy foreign midfield players who they signed on FIFA that they want instead.

And it's all based on a fee that we don't know for sure like. Lets see what happens and if he does sign then give him time. It's the only way any fee quoted can be assessed for its value.

Anything else is hyperbole and further lessening the little sense we've got left in the thread.

CHECK DAT SH*T RIGHT OUT BRA.

Going by the other forum and my Wigan supporting mate. We all know what our problem is going to be this season, spending this much money on McCarthy will not go any way to solving it.
