2025/26 James Garner

My first reaction was “GOOD NEWS” not “they’re only doing this because he want to leave”.

Honestly, it’s time to lighten up. Stop looking at the negative side to absolutely everything when there isn’t one to see.
Good news what? I don't understand. I just said I was concerned he hasn't signed a new contract yet. I obviously have no idea what the news is. 😂

A bit of delay in him signing his contract though .....keep your shirt on mate :D
Its how they have all been done this season, all given their own 'new contract' grace period, so the highlight is on that certain player..

( also it looks better on their part doing it this way )

Think it was more of a delay in bringing him to the table, he had nothing to sign..

There'll be other clubs interested.
Villa, Utd, Spurs have all been mentioned.
But I can't see him not signing tbh.
Pretty much first name on the team sheet, fans love him.
Great to see our players hitting their potential now - Garner, Jake, KDH.
It's contagious in a squad.

Are you saying you’re 99.9999% sure he’ll sign?

We aren’t even remotely in a position yet to have the attitude we should be moving on from Garner ffs. Know your place.
It's harsh, and I wouldn't phrase it like Neiler did, but we should be signing a truly top class beast of a DM in the summer to play next to KDH. And then it's not obvious that Garner is an automatic starter.

Do you really think he would put pen to paper if he either wasn't confident in his role in the team, or thought the wonders on here would get their way into moving him to RB..

Truly top class beasts aren't sounding out their agents to get in our door at the moment.

If Armstrong continues to flourish like we hope.

KDH - Garner - Armstrong

Thats a midfield we would of only been dreaming of not long ago.

He wont be getting any guarantees mate, he will be backing himself to get in the team, to be fair to him, he’s started when fit for most of his career here and Moyes is a fan, so why not back himself.

He’s a good player, a useful utility player and the squad will benefit hopefully from his versatility for years - he’s fine a 6 or 7 out of 10 in a lot of positions. I see his role like Phil Neville’s.

He neither excels as a defensive minded 6 or a progressive 8 or a blended box to box in my opinion while he struggles in a two in midfield at times with Idrissa.

Hes fine, we can and should in time improve on fine. We went for Paulhina in the summer, we get him and Garner is struggling to get into the side consistently and is then in the role I describe. Given that interest it’s obviously an area we’ve looked at and may again.

I don’t see the issue, as many good players in the squad as possible should be what we target. Central midfield is definitely an area we can improve.

No players get guarantees, thats why I said about his confidence. if he's not getting the feeling that he is a big part of the project, why sign..
Plenty of clubs will jump at him.

Paulinha turned us down, he will again if spurs take advantage of his signing.

I agree with most things you say, but your looking to far into the future and ignoring the now.

Garner has been taken for granted for so long now that it always comes down to either moving him to RB or having to look into the future to justify why he isnt good enough.

Other than Pickford, Branthwaite, Illy and KDH.
Why hasn't every other players names been brought up as much.

Lose him out of the team and maybe people will finally wake up to his importance, or maybe not..
