I understand your comparison and agree with it. Maybe you could say that Garner is a present day Alan Harper or Kevin Richardson?

I do think he could be a decent-to-good prem cm or a good-to-very good rb.

It’s gotta be an awkward conversation to have with a player though.

He still gets involved plenty in the game as well, Myko was finding himself infield a lot (especially second half). Garner at RB up those spaces is basically another CM.

Almost like how TAA played for that lot at times.

Think he goes massively under the radar in terms of how fans & the media rate him. Neat and tidy, good range of passing, works hard, has a shot on him, positionally sound wherever he plays, versatile...he's not elite by any means but really I can't point out many glaring weaknesses he has in his game. The lad has got the lot.

Kills me to suggest it but we might need to put him at full back, other teams are going to see tonight and rinse us for pace down that side. He's too good for it, he's been probably our best player in midfield along with Grealish, but we have no other options.

Not sure dyche would have lost his job last season if garner wouldn't have had that long injury lay off. Moyes got lucky that he had come back shortly after that long injury and has been a key player for us.

Milner was an excellent player and obviously a perfect pro off the field

No shame in comparing anyone to him imo despite his RS past

He's not getting anywhere near the England squad as a CM. Anderson, Rice, Wharton, even Bellingham are all on a different planet to him there.
