Once a blue always a....
Just watching a few threads and engaging in some lively debate.
Yes I agree Jags is getting on and it may be time for a new arm for the band BUT ...,
Has he been a bad or a decent captain ?
Is his poor Captaincy a component in our decline or has he been the catalyst in the dressing room that kept the ship afloat in the stormy times

Was a very good player but finished a couple of years ago. 1 good game in 5 doesnt make him a premiership player. For me never a captain and has captained a side which getting beaten by 4 goals is the norm. Should be sold to a championship club where he will have another year or 2 in him before he gets booed which he doesnt deserve.

Those halcyon days of us having a solid and reliable defence of which Jags and Baines were an essential part seem long gone now.
A class act as a defender in his prime but not a leader of men.
Time to lose the blue tints and move on.

Agreed.....the abuse he has been subjected to on here by one person was totally uncalled for and puerile....he certainly has seen better days as a player and I acknowledge the need to replace him... he will leave with my thanks for his service to the club.

3 years of Moshiri & people forget 30 years of austerity Everton. John Spencer, Marc Hottiger & at least 60 others I’d rather forget have worn the Everton shirt...

Jagielka came in from Sheffield Utd for not much. He quickly became one of Moyes best pieces of business. He made Lescott look better than he was (defensively). He captained us to an FAC semi win & stood up to score the winning penalty. Did a great job on Drogba in the final. OK, we lost against abramovic’s millions, but still a fantastic effort. In terms of value for money, there’s not that many have given us more.

It’s not his fault the club hasn’t recruited better in the last 5 years, as he’s passed his peak!
