OS confirmation Lars Joins Blackburn – News Archive – News – evertonfc.com – The Official Website of Everton Football Club

My thinking is that Moyes is confident of getting M'Bia, Pip to be first choice RB. Lars wanted a guaranteed first team spot (if reports can be believed, it is WC year after all) and probably a longer contract than we wanted to offer. Hibbo will be content to stay as a squaddie so those who say "I'd rather keep Lars than Hibbo" aren't really looking at the bigger picture.

Disappointed he's been allowed to leave. International standard full back and a darn sight better than our current regular right full.

As much as we've been told there will be signings made sooner rather than later this summer, it really is beginning to look very much like last summer all over again. If Lescott is sold, I'm going to be very gloomy altogether I'm afraid.

I don't think we should be holding on to players that are content to 'stay as a squaddie'. Those kind of players provide no competition or incentive for the more ambitious members of the team.

I remember quite vividly in the final that Pip and others were collecting the ball off Lars rather than letting him take it forward or make the pass himself. Looked like a lack of confidence in him from the other players to me.

I'm not sure how folk can say he'd definitely have been a big improvement on Hibbo. We only saw him in a few games, far too few to judge properly and if I'm honest I wasn't very impressed with him against Pompey (poor distribution, caught out in advanced positions and seemed to lack the pace to get back).

Good post mate, he played 5 games for us, hardly a massive loss.

In our financial situation we need to improve squad quality step by step mate. That's just reality. If money wasn't an option of course we'd all love to see someone like Naughton bought to challenge Pip (assuming he's the RB) but having the ability to bring on an experienced defender in Hibbo has it's advantages too.

The games he played when he came on for Hibbo, the drilling Hibbo was getting suddenly stopped as in the final and when Ashley Young tore him a new a-hole. When Lars played, he never got done on the right, that's why people thought he looked solid.

The Pompey game was his first game back from 6months of injury to be fair, and I didnt think he "that" bad.

And having Osman as a partner down that right didnt help either so no wonder they took the ball off him in the final when Osman wasnt doing anything to help out.

Not saying he was the answer though..

This must mean Hutton or Naughton and M'Bia.

Hibbo may still go, Pip to cover RB. Rodwell cover in DM.

Money from Hibbo and Vic, to go towards right Mid, or Pennant for nowt. :dodgy:

Not an ideal solution but Moyes must have a plan b)

I know it is early days but this is shaping up to be as equally a frustrating summer as last year. I am fed up to the back teeth with our beloved Everton releasing players, greatly reducing numbers and next to nothing coming in. Moyes has always had a small squad at Everton but it seems to get smaller each season. Please, please sign some fooking players and keep hold of what we currently have, ffs.

Can't blame Jacobsen at all for wanting a two year deal somewhere else if Everton weren't willing to give him that.

Good luck to him.

Its still June ffs give the guy a chance, not many other players have moved yet, we are a top 5 Premier League club, we will attract players and Moyes needs to be brave. Also rans such as Hibbert, Jacobsen, Osman, Anichibe etc need to be moved on and replaced with better players, simple as.
