2025/26 Jack Grealish

I like jack, his PR is great, he’s a great player but if we go anywhere near the high wages he’s is on we are going backward not forward. I wouldn’t be too fussed if we didn’t get him on a permanent deal tbh, this talk of “less than £50m” is nonsense IMO, he’s not worth even half of that. In worth I mean contract wise. I’m not too smart like but I’m sure loads here have worked out his amortisation and book value, is it this £50m they keep talking about?

When was the last time Everton announced a fee? Pretty sure they are usually undisclosed.

£10m and £75k a week. Sign the contract big boy.

I think the £50m is the figure rumoured to be included in the loan deal (an option to buy at that price). Needless to say no one will be paying that.

In terms of his book price, he signed for £100m on a 6 year deal with City. With only one year left that means a book value of £16.6m this summer (I'm sure there might be other things that come into it too).

For the season.

Thats who has basically taken Grealish's playing time.

If we dont make Europe, well the queation then would need to be asked do we break the bank wage wise for Grealish. I felt he was the kind of punt to really give us a chance of Europe (a bit like Rodriguez was purchased to get us into Europe).

No European football, I think questions need to be asked about what we do with our finances.

Ability wise though, Grealish is streets ahead of 99.9% of the squad in every metric possible. Doesn't rely on pace but his in game management is better than any other outfield Everton player. Wins free kicks after free kicks, gets us up the pitch by holding onto possession and I'm confident that we'd probably see out the point against the rs and West Ham if he was in the side because he's not brain dead like the majority of the team and knows when to kill or game or when to break play up and do the dirty side.

I think he was found out for pace and ideas way before he was injured. He looked despondent on the pitch too.

Only Evertonians can see a player like this and believe breaking the bank to get them is the way forward.

Someone like Iraola would refuse Grealish and go for two young direct and pacy players instead for the same price.

Why don't we just make a break with the past here and stop being sentimental and get real for once.

Those who desperately want him signed KNOW he'll break down within 6 months too.

Would you rather we sign Grealish who Moyes plays every week or another Dibling to sit on the bench every week
While Moyes is here he won’t give too many young players a chance and we have to accept that
If the owners want young players signed and played they will have to sack Moyes
Otherwise it’s Grealish McGinn Soucek and Wilson ( Harry not Callum , but possibly both )
Well you've nailed it.

Moyes has signed the wrong players and Jack is very expensive gloss on that, especially only available for 50% of the season.

He's getting older and not playing much... No pace, expensive. I'm seeing people on this forum suggest £50m for him?

Compare his stats to Gibbs White or even KDH this season.

Jack seems a good guy. But the PR gloss over his ( and our equally expensive youth), with neither contributing to our Europe chance is a joke. Moyes and TFG fluffed the window apart from KDH.

I hope (since I think TFG will keep Moyes and therefore Jack ) is that this seasons' outlay are active for more of the season next year. Europe will require that.

If we miss Europe ( and we finish on three winnable games ) then what next session transpires to be I think determines futures of Moyes, Jack etc:
  • Is it a V2 of this year...Tweaks to an ageing squad, where mid table is success ( as safety ), no cups, no Europe.
  • Or evolution in playing style, with players recruited / growing into the gaps unaddressed this season (CF, full backs, no. 10, right side)
I think the only way 1) is acceptable is if our new boys play more, Jack has a positive season and we're sniffing around Europe with a cup run. That would be progress ( if not startling ), to have blooded 4-5 new faces, looking upwards etc.

Anything less shows neither a footballing nor commercial advantage to the current vision.

A lot then indeed riding on our end of season, for which Jack will not play.

I think he a top quality player but I genuinely don't agree with him allowing himself to be leathered and passed out drunk then plastered all over the media—it reflects terribly on Everton. A player earning £200,000 a week blackout drunk. Whatever angle you look at it from, it's a terrible look.

I don't think he's worth backing the bank over this summer. Free transfer / £10 million and match Pickford for top salary, maximum.

Genuinely nice guy, clearly a good player, but he is past his prime and we should look to the future imo.

I still find it funny that he's been out since mid-January and there are only 4 players ahead of him in assists in the league this season - Bruno, Bowen, Cherki and Haaland. Bruno is in a league of his own but Bowen/Cherki in 2nd have 10. I think it's reasonable to suggest if he remained fit he'd have been up there competing for the 2nd spot.

Come on guys, use some common sense now. I highly doubt Jack is going on some massive multi-day bender, so people can stop with the talk about unhealthy habits and being unprofessional. I think he’s the type of guy who needs a little reset every now and then, and that’s more than understandable when he’s injured.

The hope is that if we don't resign Grealish that an alternative to McNeil would be signed though. I really hope it isn't an either/or situation.
