I know it wasn't. Level 2 and 3 was originally built with no stand at the north end with a 3800 capacity. City got contractors in before we moved in and built the north stand as well as digging the running track up and digging down about 8m below street level to build the 1st level. It then became 48000 capacity before it was further developed when building south stand level 3 which took capacity to about 53000. And the new north stand will make the stadium around 62k.
I know mate, I worked on it during both stages. Got photos somewhere of me giving Keegan a tour and showing him his new office. Was my first Stadium job that.
I ran the final ever 'race' on the racetrack before it was ripped up. I ran in lane 4, in rigger boots. Won it. Also played in the first football game in the stadium, with just a few site lads watching from the stands..... probably one of your biggest attendances to be fair...
Like I say, likely entirely different now than it was when I was last there.
