You're very hostile for no apparent reason. I accept your apology over this matter.
I'm simply clarifying things as you seem to have misunderstood. Its no issue, we all do it. No hostility.

If I may share my opinion on the matter, Toney gambled when he shouldn't (dont know if he's an addict but I dont know where the line is). He's now paying for it. A big cost for a big infringement. Is it fair? I cant say. Should he be given a worse punishment? No. Bro we are sponsored by a crypto gambling company. How can we sponsor a company and criticise Toney

I think a 2 year ban would have been fair in my opinion (which would be harsh to you and others, that's opinons and all good).

I remember Shane Warne and Mark Waugh being an inch away from getting life time bans for giving a bookmaker information about a pitch and they didn't even know he was a bookie, I think cricket handles this side of the game sternly and I like it. I do hope Toney gets help, and it is ironic that gambling firms sponsor our game, but at some point an individual has to take ownership.

Again, dont know the extent and its too late to read up on it. Half a season, for me, is enough of a ban. After all, isn't a ban meant to deter someone from doing said thing again? If Toney even chooses a coin flip he's gonna get palpitations. I also tbink giving him half a season and coming back, he could become a poster boy against gambling. Wild thoughts, I know. But I dont think the guy should be written off

I don't think 2 years is writing someone off, they still have the opportunity to come back and play and it sets a higher deterrent to other players doing it. I do hope the authorities help Toney in a positive manner to use him as a genuine poster boy as you say.

I'd actually be more sympathetic if it is addiction than if it's someone just having some bets on for fun. Compulsion is one thing... but even the most bang average PL footballer makes what, like 50k a week? Why on earth would you need to bet on your own sport? Certainly not about the money...

He certainly does, he would be privy to a lot of info that we aren't.
Only the same way someone that works in a stable does with horse racing.
He wasn’t betting against games he was playing in. No evidence or suggestion of match fixing.
It Was wrong he was punished strongly at the peak of his career.

Because they're different things - one doesn't negate the other. If Everton were sponsored by a beer company, could we not criticise a drink driver who kills a family?

Yes there's an issue with gambling, and I'm very uneasy with us being sponsored by such a company, but Toney started before that. He made conscious decisions.

His ban has been reduced because of his addiction, so leniency has been shown, however the rules must stand.

Punishment is not meant to be a deterrent to the person in question. It is meant to be a deterrent to the next person who considers doing it.

Anybody with multiple children knows that the oldest child typically gets the harshest discipline because the younger ones see that and don't infringe in the same way.

I agree with the sentiment that some have mentioned that the actual corruption is most likely concentrated with the match officials as they would likely be the cheapest to turn.

However, someone made a comment about gambling addiction and if you have it on you it will be gone. Absolutely true. He is either an addict and therefore can never be trusted again because there is always the chance he gets in too deep, or he is not an addict and he still did it anyway despite the threat of punishment.

Either way, punishment needs to be harsh to be effective at preventing future, worse instances.

It'd be interesting to know how much info his chosen bookie had about him. If they were taking bets knowing they were coming from a professional footballer they should be allowed no advertising or exposure from the game.

Thought it was shown he was?

These included 13 bets on his own club to lose, although Toney was not involved in those games. In 11 cases the bets were against Newcastle while he was on loan elsewhere and the other two relate to a Wigan v Aston Villa match while he was on loan at Wigan but not in the squad.
