What would you take that phrase "Its all gone downhill" or "It's all downhill from here" as meaning from the below;

a ) Something is getting worse
b ) Something is getter better

Well if you were carrying pasties up a very large hill, and tripped and dropped one, you could said "it's all gone, down hill."

But if you were cycling up the same hill, and got to the top, with a pastie, you could tear open the packaging in the safe knowledge "it's all downhill from here,", and not get a stitch.

"It's all gone downhill" - worse.

"It's all downhill from here" - good.

As in,

"Bollox" - bad.

"Dogs bollox" - good.

Two completely different and opposite things:

"It's all gone downhill" - things have got much worse

"It's all downhill from here" - we've got over the hump/done the hard work and now things are going to get easier/better
