Is this the worst year ever?

Watched some bad Everton sides can't remember a side worst than this one for conceding goals and throwing the towel in
saying that though the opposition teams of today are much better than what teams used to be anyone can beat anyone now
unfortunately for us we seem to be on the end of it consistently

It’s all been downhill since Crystal Palace beat us at Goodison in the closing games of the 2013/14 season. We should have got CL that season, but the utter cowards did a bottle job in the final 5 games. Worst period I’ve ever had following Everton.

Yes that is the point from which almost nothing has gone right since.

That’s four years now so obviously no blip. Surely this is enough of a learning curve for Moshiri in terms of what he knows does not work and will not work in the future.

It feels to me at present that we are the worst we can be without being relegated, all things considered.

Assuming we stay up and then carried this shambles into next season, we would go down I think.

I think another season of this and whatever is left of morale just gets sucked away bit by bit and that gets very ugly.

It’s all on Moshiri now. If he fails to act in the summer and gets the next appointment wrong then I truly fear the consequences.

I'm sorry guys but I can't let this go without a response it is utter rubbish because that season we won 9 out of our last 12 games including one to the eventual champions, two of the matches we lost were narrow 3-2 defeats.

Prior to that Palace game we had won 7 straight matches which is a club record for the premier league we finished 7 points behind Arsenal in 4th so would have needed to win 11 and draw 1 of those last 12 to possibly catch them on goal difference.

We didn't blow or bottle it at all we just couldn't sustain an unbelievable run of form

What more could we have done won all 12?

I didn’t say anything about bottling it. The Palace game just represented a point at which everything, no maybe just an awful lot seems to have gone wrong since, save a run of home form in the 2nd half of last season when it was already over competitively.

You wouldn’t have much to make a memorable moments DVD from since then. Just a few decent home results spread here and there against the big six.

Depends on your viewpoint the very next match after we beat Man United 2-0 in Moyes last game which was great since then Wolfsburg home and away the Naismith hat trick versus Chelsea and the 4-0 against Man City were all highlights nothing major obviously but a damn sight better than what we have endured this season.

First Everton team I’ve seem who have genuinely gone into fixtures without even wanting to turn up, just literally waiting to concede the first goal even at home. The worst side I’ve seen even if others got lower points totals. This side makes me embarrassed to be an Evertonian watching them.

We bottled the Palace and Southampton games. We should have won both and didn’t.

Yet his away from that season was one of the best we've had - swings and roundabout.
We can just about buy a win now, so lets not get ahead of ourselves.
It was never this bad under Martinez, and for what its worth Martinez was the first manager to build our expectations - its been downhill since his sacking.

Cup runs mean very little if you don't pick up the pot at the end. There are lots of bad stats from that season but this one does it for me...

Martinez recorded Everton's worst haul - 20 points - at home in the club's 138-year history

That's worst in our entire history, everyone who paid for a season ticket to watch us get beat, how can it get worse than that? To put it in context we already have 23 points from our home matches in this abomination of a season.

Think time has erased a lot of peoples pain from what was truly a miserable season once we got knocked out of the league cup.

We didn’t have to win 12 in a row.

Are you saying we shouldn’t have beat Crystal Palace at home because we’d won the previous 7 games? Is that how football works?

As I have explained in the post above we did have to win 12 in a row in order to get 4th place which you think we bottled.

Arsenal were 7 points ahead so we needed to win the three games we didn't or win 2 and draw one with a better goal difference

Who’s to say had we of won the Palace game that Arsenal would have carried on in such form? It could, and probably would, have knocked their confidence massively and boosted ours.

Best we've had? We would have only had 24 points away from home. 10 wins in total from 37 games under Martinez.

But.........72 points...you are quite right we missed out on CL and others thought that was OK...Yeah alright

For me, this game marked the beginning of the end.

We peaked as a team against Arsenal just one game prior to this - all downhill from there.
