Is that kiss goodbye to Moyes then? Who would you want if so?

Just in general, it has to be bitterly disappointing, just as it is for the supporters, to start a season like this and play they way we do and then not be able to invest in the squad.

Perhaps it's just misfortune that didn't bring Fer in, but we had other holes to fill as well and regardless of the reason, we have the same squad as we did when the month started.

I think he's gone if he gets a better offer. The "better offer" being the sticking point, though I guess you could say that about any manager at any point.

Our right to win cups is because we're the 5th best team in the league and we are much better off than the likes of bradford, birmingham, leicester, portsmouth, blackburn and boro.

Why can we overachieve in the leagues and not the cups?

Probably the same reason why Spurs have only won one League Cup, despite being 4th and why Newcastle won nothing even when they were coming 2nd in the 90's. Because there is at least one team better who can knock us out of the cup.

Improvement in the league is the most important thing and that is what we are doing. A cup would give the fans some bragging rights for a few months but it isn't really a true reflection on how good the team is as anyone can win one. We are still in the FA Cup this season anyway, so we may win it.

Lets hope so, mate.

Personally I'd take 17th and a cup over 2nd and none but I'm not going to say no to winning lots of games in the league like.

The league cup is for clubs with big squads who can use squad players or midtable sides who can afford to play their best team because they don't have much to fight for in the league. It generally comes too early in the season for us, as we don't hit our best form until after Christmas.

The fa cup is a lottery. One off day or a piece of bad luck and you're out of the competition. I think we've reached the last 16 for the last 4 years. After last season's semi one of the journalists wrote about us that 'not losing games isn't enough in a cup competition, you need to be able to go out and win them'. This season has once again demonstrated that to be our shortfall.

Who else will pay him an obscene amount of money to achieve [Poor language removed] all?

Next.

Changing a team from consistent relegation candidates to consistent top 6 on a negative net spend is achieving '[Poor language removed] all' to you?

Some people just don't live in the real world or understand football at all.

Birmingham won the league cup and Portsmouth won the FA Cup recently. Would you swap places with them now? After all they 'won something'?

A few blues been saying this already. I thought the board would back him this window. There was a big chance now to push on with 4th up for grabs. Can't say I'm not disappointed

moyes ain't leaving. he wanted to see what the boards intentions were...they found him the money for fer...unfortunately it didnt come off.. but he's kept the squad intact despite sky sports trying to sell fellaini and baines...

No, i'd win something and stay in the top half of the table, which is something Moyes and Everton are completely capable of doing.

Moyes recently went three years without being able to buy a first team player. This week's failures won't have even fazed him.

good point, maybe when he said he was waiting till after the transfer window closed that he wanted to make sure we hadnt sold anyone!

Who's in the league cup final this year mate?

Pretty sure we outspent birmingham the year they won it and outspent Blackburn and Leicester when they won the league cup too.

Birmingham spent close to £40 million (net) in the two years before they won the cup, and look where they are now, league- and financially-speaking. I don't know about Blackburn and Leicester but that's already a pretty long time ago right?

Comparing net spend is misleading. What you should compare is the total money spent on transfers, wages and agents between the two clubs. I think you'll find we were the bigger spender.
