Because we have little to no money to spend I bet Guardiola was gutted at the prospect of going to Bayern when he could have come here if Moyes wasn't in the way. As if a high profile proven manager from abroad would come to Everton.

We have little to no money to spend in premier league terms. Compared to any club not in the elite leagues in europe we spend decent money. And more improtantly we pay decent wages, meaning we can attract great players and hold onto players in a way dutch and argentine clubs etc just can't.

The premier league is comfortably the most watched and richest league in the world. We have a squad in the top 5 of that league with excellent players in it.

We pay a manager's wage which only 5 european clubs sides outside england beat and we give our managers time, patience and control which is so utterly rare elsewhere.

If you look at top managers and the jobs they end up at why not us? Hitzfeld managed Zurich, Van Gaal AZ, Bielsa Bilbao, Pellegrini Malaga, Rehhagel Hertha, Cuper Adis and Orduspor, Emery Spartak Moscow and Sevilla, Sampaoli managed club football in Chile etc etc.

Birmingham won the League Cup in 2011 after spending loads of cash. Middlesbrough did the same in 2004. If those are the clubs you're aspiring to be like then I don't know what to tell you.

It's understandable that we're all desperate to win a trophy but who really gives a **** about the League Cup. It's a second rate ****e competition and I would rather we did well in the league each season than have one League Cup win. Birmingham, Middlesbrough, Blackburn, Swansea and Bradford may have been League Cup Finalists/Winners but take a look at how they do in the league.
