Is that kiss goodbye to Moyes then? Who would you want if so?

Steve Clarke.

I've been impressed with him from his Chelsea days and he's done nothing wrong in his coaching career in my eyes - even at Liverpool. Was gutted when they got him, thankfully Dalglish's gashness was so overpowering so as to nullify anything good he did.

Really like him, but if we couldn't get him I wouldn't be too gutted at Martinez, but I'm still convinced Kenwright will go for Dave Jones.

It's a really difficuly question because if this thread existed a decade ago and was entitled "Who do you want in if Smith leaves?" then nobody would have answered with the words "David Moyes".

One thing I am sure about - Moyes leaving won't be the cataclysmic event some would lead you to believe it would be.

The likes of Roberto Martinez would be delighted to become Everton manager, but I don't see the great pull with him.

It's just his experience of operating within a restricted budget and attaining respectable results against all odds. Don't think it will be an ideal choice for fans, but the board will be happy.

The more I think of it the more I am convinced Moyes is off.
