Is Darren Bent really worth £20m more than the Yak ?

Oh and I missed the EIGHT MILLION in add on's they're offering as part of the deal.

They'll be paying for the next 6 years on him...

Oh yeah. Aston Villa are flush with cash (NOT!) sell to buy sell to buy sell to buy.

Oh yeah...totally forgot we dont do that....

Very good player just behind Drogba, Rooney in terms of consistencey over the years, yet he hasnt been on fire this season, he needs to be at a club where he is the main man. Faoir play to Sunderland they did well out of this - this is the deal that will kick everything of in the window for me - watch them all go now and things are about to get silly.

Bad move financialy for Villa to be honest their books are a disgrace and thought they had seen sanity in selling Milner and keeping the money, but....................................... if they get relegated they will implode and they have just the man behind the wheel to do it.

Agree. They'd have gone into absolute melt down if they got relegated.

It was either keep themselves in a tight position (for at least two/three years) due to this deal alone or potentially go down and have something that would put them completely on their arse.

They've got very little further ability to spend without selling now though. Maybe one or two (absolute max) £3-4 million players but that most defo is it unless they get some serious dough in for one of their players going out ... .

Well Randy could always, tear up the loans he has given the club some 80 mill or so, would be under massive pressure to do so if they were in jeprody - the team look really bad this year im surprised he sees something in Houllier the rest of the world doesnt, hard to see where they will get points.

You obviously saw my subliminal message there. Nice one.

I'd love to answer the original poster's question but I just don't know anymore about football and the money in football.

The one thing I do know is that it's all going to end at some point. Hopefully it won't too be bad for Everton when the house of football cards comes crashing down.

Other than on salaries Villa hasn't really spent the Milner money. It primarily the reason why you don't want to sell Vaughn, Yak or even Vic I guess. When strikers start scoring a few goals their worth shoots up like a 1990s internet stock.
