Definitely not worth that much, I'd say more around 12-14 mil, although saying that Bent reminds me of a better Premier League practiced Beckford

Bent is well worth the money. He's scores goals everywhere he's gone and that is a rarity these days.

And yeah, worth more than the yak.

It depresses me how the two clubs in a bigger plight than us recently; Liverpool and Villa, are apparently in for Suarez and have signed Darren Bent respectively, out of nowhere. Where did Villa get that kind of money!?! I thought they were right there with us in being a big team with nothing to spend.

Big difference between having it and not wanting to spend it and NOT having it. Villa decided to introduce fiscal sanity before the year, but that gets thrown out the window once relegation looms.

Sold Milner in the summer, sold Sidwell to Fulham (who sold Konchesky et al to pay for that). And are looking to sell Downing and/or Young too.

They're going for a minus net spend this year btw.

Plus - Bent's offer's got about 8million in "add ons" based on appearances and goals etc.

This. Bent is very underrated. Check out his scoring record against the top teams. He gets up for the big games and produces. The man has scored 36 times in 63 appearances over the last year and half. He's worth it, especially to Villa.

Sounds a bit like a monty python skit from a couple of people in here.
"Apart from scoring goals at a great ratio for a number of clubs what has he ever done?"
Name a better striker in the premier league, and back up the stats. I can think of Drogba, Rooney, Tevez and Torres, with which Bent's goal ratio is similar.
Underrated by a lot of people I feel.

Very good player just behind Drogba, Rooney in terms of consistencey over the years, yet he hasnt been on fire this season, he needs to be at a club where he is the main man. Faoir play to Sunderland they did well out of this - this is the deal that will kick everything of in the window for me - watch them all go now and things are about to get silly.

Bad move financialy for Villa to be honest their books are a disgrace and thought they had seen sanity in selling Milner and keeping the money, but....................................... if they get relegated they will implode and they have just the man behind the wheel to do it.
