Is Clockwork Orange the greatest British movie ever?

In terms of music, message, script, cinematography I watched it again on sky and its just unbelievably good.

Compare it to the matrix, avatar its lol. yes we have become small-minded people that want comedy due to stresses of life but it has affected the overall quality of movies and I doubt clockwork orange would be made in todays climate.

Is it a British movie? Obviously its filmed here but Kubrick was usually financed with yank money.

I like the first half of Clockwork Orange because the music is great, the dialogue great, some good humour and a nice bit of biff. The mind control stuff in the second half was just a bit dull.

For me Kubrick's best film was Dr Strangelove.

It's not even Kubrick's best film imo.
I consider myself a big Kubrick fan, but even so I prefer his "straight down the middle" work.

Eyes Wide Shut is also amazing - a massively under-rated by the popcorn media who preferred the somewhat less layered "American Beauty".
