Numbers wise were minus delofeou and traore with only Besic in..

Just brass tacks..

Traore only played 2 games. Hardly a big miss. Lukaku and Barry are eligible for an additional 5 league games each and McCarthy for an additional league 3 games. That alone could easily see us get another 6 points. All of our young players should have improved considerably as well. It was Barkley and Stones first proper seasons in the top flight. I'm expecting big improvements from both of them. Lukaku will also have improved from another year in the top flight. Naismith became a useful player about half way through last season, hopefully he will be useful for the whole of this season. Finally people shouldn't underestimate how much we changed our system last year after 10 years playing the same way. The players will all understand their roles better this year and we will be a better team as a result. Having a relatively tough start might actually help us. Our first team is a match for anyone's and therefore better to play the big teams at the start of the season when all our players are fit then in Feb. when we have injuries and squad strength becomes more of a factor

We'll finish 5th or 6th, but all I want is a trophy to get that winning feeling back at Goodison, so that the players sample success which will make them much more hungry to want it in future. Even a league cup win could be the springboard.

Starting 11 is very strong, we do still need some real quality on the wings (Atsu may be the answer there) and we need more players for squad depth especially up front. I would be worried if Lukaku got injured right now.

Yes, we have signed Lukaku and Barry on permanent deals.. but they were here last season too. So not really strengthening the squad.
Besic is new and add strength to the central midfield, but deulofeu is gone and that is weakening our first 11.

Yes, our youngsters have gotten a year older, but the same goes for youngsters in the other squads too.

All in all... can't see that we have strengthened the team much this summer. RM has worked hard to keep the team we had and done a fantastic job at it, but we need a few signings to say that we have strengthened our squad significantly this summer.

filled with absolute confidence going into the new season? I believe we can challenge right up with the best teams with a few more additions (which I'm positive we'll get). Also, going far in the Europa is on the cards too because I think we will take it serious unlike Spurs in the last couple of seasons etc. Another run in the FA Cup will be appreciated because getting to Wembley and finally winning another trophy would be a dream come true.

Another thing is all of the players seem to have a drive and determination about them now and when asked what are there goals for next season I hear 'To finish 1st' etc. Something that Bobby has instilled into them.

Keeping hold of McCarthy is vital as it emphasises we are NOT a selling club and want to challenge at the highest level. If he goes (I don't believe he will) then the optimism will be sucked out of the fans and things could feel a bit flat.

The crowd will also be key next season home and away. I don't need to emphasise how good our away fans are (best in the prem) but Goodison can be at times flat against the 'lower' opposition so the crowd definitely need to be behind the team and acting like the 12th man.

Signing players like Rom is also something I haven't experienced for a while and under Moyes we would never have got him even on loan, so let's all thank Bob for that one and also Bill.

Can't wait for the new season, looking forward to good things.

I certainly am. Providing we don't lose McCarthy which I don't think we will, and we add one or two more attacking players in, we look perfectly set to challenge for the top 4, and to go far in the cups.

This is the first time supporting us where I can say that. I'm not one of these fans who deludes themselves about Moyes' role at Everton, because I think the has been the catalyst in getting us back to the point we are today. But I believe he could only take us so far. Martinez seems to be the perfect fit for us, and everything he says and does filters down to the players and gives them the ultimate confidence and belief about what we can achieve.

No more acceptance that 6th/7th is all we can do. This manager wants to win things and get us back to being one of the biggest and best in England which is where we should be. We're going to go in to Europe and not whimper to 0-5 defeats against established European sides, and we're definitely not going to go away to some mickey mouse Eastern European side and get spanked 1-5 like we did under Moyes. I'm not going to have the delusions of a Kopite and say the Europa League is ours, but I think we can go far in it.

As for the league, obviously City and Chelsea will be strong, and I think Arsenal are building a very strong side, but the likes of Man United and Liverpool don't worry me. We're written off by the media at the expense of those two because we don't have the profile those two do, but deep down, people who know their stuff will be worrying about us this season.

Couldn't be happier at the moment.

Usually when I'm over confident going into a season we end up flopping badly.

I fully expect us to improve but drop down a few places due to Europe and stronger opposition.

(That doesn't really make sense, does.it?)

There's a big reason why we're stronger this season. We have our team ready and those 3 draws at the start last season really hurt us plus if you look at the form guid from January on last season we where a top 4 team.

If we can have Kone, Oviedo & Gibson fit for most of the season then that'll boost our chances massively of improving on last season. It won't be easy - other teams haven't stood still, and we have an extra competition to deal with, but these are the challenges that we should welcome.

Are we stronger than last season? You bet we are. Aside from the points already raised, this season we will have Lukaku, Barry and James Mc for 38 league games instead of 35. Remember the first 3 games last season.....

I can't wait. Think we have a great squad coming together and if we can get off to a good start then anything can happen. Be great to win a trophy next year, anything will do.

Imagine Kone starts performing.

If he slots there will be backtracking on a par with that seen on Naismith. It'll be beautiful.

There's a reason why Martinez is confident. Its because a squad thats strong and getting stronger. The kids too. They are going to surprise. Think he'll introduce them gradually.

We have a well established side. Its the perfect environment to introduce some of the younger players

The likes of Barkley, Stones & Rodwell should have shown our youngsters that the step from U-21 to A-squad can be taken if you just work at it and don't let the experience frighten you. If they work hard and develop they will be given the chance to show their skill in competitive matches this season, they just have to be ready and take their chances when they come. Would love to have some of our U-21 players take the step this season and establish themselves as real contenders for a spot when the whole team is healthy.
